How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

The Program Manager works in collaboration with various TRCA teams, partners and stakeholders to communicate and oversee programs. This role focuses on managing relationships with stakeholders while providing program specific expertise.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • With a focus on all aspects of corporate sustainability both internally and externally, leads the development of program materials and resources with input from internal and external stakeholders
  • Engages and works in collaboration with program staff, TRCA divisions and external partners, stakeholders, working groups or committees to maximize resources and program impact
  • Preparation of reports, memos, technical briefs, magazine articles, web postings and/or delivery of presentations related to program
  • Manages and hosts training events, workshops, community events, or seminars related to program area
  • Leads a team of staff and ensures that team members understand expectations; communicates schedule, tasks and discusses priorities of items
  • In collaboration with Human Resources:
    • Manages team recruitment, selection and hiring of talent
    • Manages individual employee development and individual development plans, considering high performing staff and managing underperforming staff
    • Recommends compensation performance adjustments
    • Recommends individuals for promotions/transfers
  • Brings information together with community and partner interests to recommend strategic approaches and develop Action Plans, program design, implementation strategies and leading or supporting program adaptations to meet client needs

 

What will you need to succeed:

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Natural Sciences, Water Resources, or a related field
  • Valid Ontario Class G2 driver's license

 

Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in program management, in relevant field
  • 1+ years of progressive managerial, supervisory or project management experience
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and/ or writing technical drawings and/or reports
  • Experience managing relationships / working with sponsors, government representatives or in partnerships
  • Experience in urban sustainability (e.g., energy and water), urban food security or homeowner engagement.

 

Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate project status for various audiences, prepare reports and proposal writing, and analytical skills
  • Able to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks as an ongoing challenge in a frequently fluctuating workload and multiple deadlines
  • Ability to design and conduct stakeholder engagement and facilitate program discussions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member to coach staff and work with stakeholders (internally and externally); ability to deal tactfully and courteously with stakeholders, public officials
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint
