The Opportunity: 

McElhanney is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Lead/ Senior Field Representative with 2-5 years of relevant experience to join our Geomatics team around Northern and Central Alberta (Calgary, Edmonton, Grande Prairie). As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our Division Managers and Project Managers to ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with contractual and legal requirements. This role focuses on a wide range of geomatics projects across Alberta.

This is not an entry-level position. We are specifically looking for candidates who have demonstrated expertise in similar roles and can independently manage survey projects with a high degree of professionalism and accuracy.

Responsibilities include:

  • Traveling and working out of town occasionally as required.
  • Completing pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, as well as pre-site access testing per client requirements.

 

Salary Range: 32$- 46$ per hour. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. 

 

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Conduct a range of surveys, including legal surveys, construction staking for Right-of-Ways, Roads, Structures, and topographic and high-precision construction surveys.
  • Manage the flow of information from field to office, preparing clear, concise, and accurate field notes, records, and calculations.
  • Ensure quality assurance, safety measures, and policy compliance are maintained.

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • A two-year technical diploma in Geomatics or Civil Engineering, with at least 2 years of experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven ability to work independently with strong communication skills.
  • Experience working in diverse environmental conditions and on varied terrain.
  • Familiarity with robotics total stations, Trimble GPS, and drones (an asset).
  • Underground utility locating experience (an asset but not required).
  • A valid driver’s license.
