Position: Cloud & System Administrator

Location: Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec would be preferred. 
Workplace flexibility: We require a minimum attendance of 2 days/week in office. This role requires also travel (25%) across the country.
Status: Full-time, permanent (1)

Reporting directly to the IT Director, the Cloud & System Administrator is a key member of the Digital Infrastructure and support Team, who will play a key role in maintaining the organization’s cloud and on-premises systems and infrastructure while also supporting the Cybersecurity team. This position requires a strong understanding of cloud technologies, system administration, and a keen eye for security best practices.

What would be your main responsibilities as a Cloud & System Administrator? 

Infrastructure Management:

  • Hybrid Infrastructure: Oversee and manage both on-premises and Azure cloud environments.
  • Core Components: Manage and support essential infrastructure components, including virtual servers, storage, and networking.
  • Proactive Monitoring: Implement robust system monitoring and alerting to ensure optimal performance and early detection of issues.
  • System Optimization: Continuously optimize system performance through software updates, license management, and certificate renewal.
  • Network Infrastructure: Maintain and support a comprehensive network infrastructure, encompassing firewalls, routers, switches, access points, LAN, WAN (SD-WAN), WIFI, and VPN.
  • Unified Communications: Manage and support IP Telephony systems (Cisco Call Manager & Microsoft Teams Phone).
  • Microsoft Ecosystem: Manage Office 365 and Active Directory environments for efficient user management and collaboration.
  • Business Continuity: Ensure high system availability, load balancing, and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery plans (DRP) to minimize downtime and data loss.
  • Technology Implementation: Actively participate in the planning, implementation, and testing of new technologies to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Problem Resolution: Collaborate with other IT areas to identify and resolve problems, ensuring smooth operations and project success.

 

 

System Administration and Cybersecurity Support:

  • Infrastructure Management: Manage on-premises servers, network devices, and operating systems (Windows, Linux) to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • User Support and Security: Provide technical support to end-users, manage user accounts and permissions, and assist with Active Directory administration.
  • Daily Operations and Security: Perform routine administrative tasks and contribute to the maintenance and support of security tools (GPO and Configuration Policies, AD Tools, 365 E5, MXDR, SIEM, etc.).
  • Security Collaboration: Collaborate with the Cybersecurity team to implement and maintain security measures, policies, and procedures.
  • Threat Monitoring and Response: Monitor for security threats and vulnerabilities, respond to security incidents, and perform incident response procedures, including investigation, root cause analysis, and reporting.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with IT teams on infrastructure and security projects, including intrusion testing, awareness campaigns, and training initiatives.

 

 What are the requirements needed in order to have success in this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a system administrator or cloud administrator.
  • In-depth knowledge of Active Directory, Windows, and Linux operating systems.
  • Proficiency in communication protocols, network security, and scripting (Powershell).
  • Practical experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi and Azure IaaS and PaaS products.
  • Familiarity with GPO/Intune Configuration Policies, security concepts, and cloud infrastructure (Microsoft).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organization and documentation skills.
  • Client-focused approach with excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in SCRUM or Agile environments.
  • ITIL knowledge or certification.
  • Bilingual (French/English).
  • Ability to travel to different Quadra sites to provide support when needed.

 

Additional Desired Skills and Experience

  • Proficiency in vulnerability scanning, patching, and risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with common security technologies (IDP/IPS, antivirus, SIEM, endpoint protection).
  • Experience in handling security incidents, including incident response planning, investigation, and remediation.
  • Knowledge of threat intelligence sources and techniques for identifying and mitigating emerging threats.
  • Understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and their implications for system administration.

 

Working Conditions:
