Lead Level Designer

Reports to: Creative Director

The team

Come and join a design team on a unique mandate in a genre with high narrative content.

We're looking for our Lead Level Designer, to complement our very senior design team. Each of us contributes more than just our title; we're looking for a colleague with the same broader interest in the project as a whole. We achieve this through our contributions both at high level (management) and directly in the creation of engine content. If you identify with this description, then we need to talk!

 

What you will do

  • In close collaboration with the team of directors, supervise and oversee the design and implementation of the game's main and secondary missions and the game's various missions and levels;
  • Work closely with the artistic, technical and narrative teams to create high-quality missions and game levels;
  • Mentor the level design team, providing them with regular feedback on their work, and their professional progress, organizing meetings to monitor and review their performance;
  • Support the production and testing teams in preparing, monitoring and organizing consumer test sessions for our missions and game levels;
  • Work in collaboration with the production team to establish the roadmap for each task required for the design of missions and game levels;
  • Communicate the progress of mission and game-level design with the various game directors, in order to present progress, obstacles, concerns, risks and their potential solutions;
  • Monitor and assist in the development of the various tools required for the mission and game-level creation;
  • Work in collaboration with the game design team and the game director to achieve the desired quality of execution and player experience for each mission and game level; 
  • Oversee the creation of mission and game-level documents and keep them up to date;
  • Communicate progress, needs, bottlenecks and relevant information to the departments involved in the mission and game-level design;
  • Establish procedures, standards and best practices for the mission and game-level creation.

 

What you bring

  • + 6 years experience in the video game industry as a mission and level designer;
  • +2 years experience as a lead level designer;
  • Having delivered a game as a lead designer is an asset;
  • Experience in the fundamentals of level and mission design and their constraints;
  • Experience in scripting and rapid prototyping;
  • Excellent technical knowledge of the various stages of production.

 

Even better if you have

  • Experience working with Unreal is preferred;
  • Experience in design is an asset (participation in the creation of RLD, participation in the creation of the blueprint, etc.);
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to illustrate one’s own ideas are essential;
  • Leadership skills, proactivity, ongoing commitment to working with different professions (design, animation and programming);
  • Ability to work in a team focused on continuous improvement.
