POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Printing Manager, the Process Engineer is responsible to provide day-to-day technical process support leading to process capability and reliability on the Shop Floor. The Process Engineer will identify and drive Continuous Improvement (CI) projects leading to Printing achieving or exceeding its performance targets and drive CI projects to improve product quality, overall manufacturing efficiency, and productivity while reducing cost and waste. The PE will also foster a working environment that is fair, equitable and driven to continuously improve.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
Monitor and Ensure Health & Safety / HACCP & SQF / 5S Compliance.
• Proactively identify and suggest ways to eliminate hazards.
• Correct unsafe acts or conditions, ensuring health & safety policies are followed.
• Participate in Safety Investigations when required.
• Provide Safety training when required
Printing Technical Support
• Be involved in the design, testing, and signing off on new equipment/processes on Printing’s behalf.
• Develop Printing Procedures & Job Breakdown Sheets, Provide Leadership in implementing new Procedures.
• Identify key methods for improving current layout to eliminate waste.
• Participate in printing area layout reviews.
Report and Communicate
• Report out using established form to peers and Managers as required.
• Ensure routine communications sessions take place with the Shop Floor.
• Communicate project updates verbally and in a presentation format.
• Add, and update projects in KaiNexus.
Support and Drive Continuous Improvement
• Understand Printing and Toronto Operations objectives and actively seek to understand issues negatively impacting Prinitng and customer performance and recommend or implement corrective actions.
• Identify continuous improvement projects that will result in increased quality, OEE, and machine utilization.
• Act as Printing’s primary contact and representative to Engineering regarding any Molding process related project or issue.
• Provide leadership and drive improvement actions regarding equipment upgrades and purchases.
• Ensure appropriate documentation, spare parts and preventative maintenance programs are in place by project completion.
• Provide feedback and drive improvement regarding technical processes on the shop floor.
• Identify improvement opportunities and participate in establishing the performance metrics and the CI program for the Department.
• Facilitate implementation of changes on the shift
• Sponsor, lead, facilitate or participate in specific CI projects and establishment of Standard Work
• Promote a continuous improvement culture.
Training
• Support Team Members training on cGMPs, Food Safety and Quality procedures.
• Ensure own training is maintained according to the system schedule.
Other Duties
• Perform other duties as assigned
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Educational Requirements: Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering Diploma or Degree preferred.
Relevant Experience: Knowledge of injection molding and thermoforming manufacturing. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and applications.
Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and people management skills. Ability to effectively coach, manage and support Team Members.
Computer Skills: Good PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with AutoCad or Solidworks. Familiarity with project tools such as MS Project.
Skills: Project management skills. Effective planning and organizational skills.
