Director, Environmental Health, Infectious Disease and Clinical Services (EHIDCS) (1 full-time position)

Make your impact in Public Health as the full-time Director of Environmental Health, Infectious Disease and Clinical Services at Middlesex-London Health Unit, one of the largest independent health units in Canada. This position is responsible for promoting and protecting health and preventing disease and injury by providing strategic leadership for public health programs. The Director participates as a member of the Senior Leadership Team in the formulation and implementation of policy and strategic priorities for the Health Unit and represents the Health Unit with peers and community groups, agencies, institutions, and professional bodies.

In addition to contributing to organizational decision-making regarding the management of resources and operations, the successful candidate will also:

• Plan and direct program development, implementation and evaluation, informed by up-to-date research evidence, in divisional programs which include: Food Safety, Health Hazards, Safe Water, Tobacco Enforcement, Infectious Disease Control, Vaccine Preventable Disease, Sexual Health, and Oral Health and Clinical Support Services;
• Manage staff performance and budgets for the Environmental Health, Infectious Disease and Clinical Services division;
• Advise Managers on project management and clinical/case management issues, and counsel accordingly on complex cases and situations; and
• Contribute to a positive work environment and engage, in culturally humble ways, with partners and other relevant parties with the aim of enhancing collective capacity to address social determinants of health and health equity.

Key Qualifications:

• Progressive leadership experience of at least 5 years, including management of internal and external stakeholder relationships, business planning, public health policy and program development, budget management, and human resource management in a unionized environment;
• At least 1 year in a senior leadership role preferred;
• Leadership experience in local public health would be considered an asset;
• Master’s Degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Health Administration, Nursing, or related area of study required. Candidates who have an equivalent level of expertise acquired through related employment experience and on-the-job training or alternative education may be considered in order to support Employment Equity;
• Certification in a related health field such as Public Health Inspector [C.P.H.I.(C)], Public Health Nurse, or Physician would be considered an asset;
• Thorough knowledge of theories and principles of public health, including public health interventions, population health assessment and surveillance, evidence informed public health decision making, program planning and evaluation, health promotion, and program evaluation;
• Comprehensive technical knowledge, skills and field experience in local public health service delivery;
• Knowledge in the specialized programs and interventions within the assigned division would be considered an asset;
• Demonstrated proficiency in senior management competencies including strategic thinking, leadership, risk management and fiscal accountability;
• Demonstrated proficiency in effective decision-making with innovative and results orientated leadership;
• Excellent communication skills; ability to speak and write clearly, concisely, and logically; demonstrates good report-writing and presentation skills;
• Excellent computer skills, with emphasis on MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams);
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills effectively applied in a multidisciplinary team and across all levels of an organization;
• Demonstrated ability to effectively lead change and process improvements;
• Demonstrated understanding of a client-oriented model of service delivery; and
• Knowledge of the principles of health equity, and why it is a foundational standard for public health. This includes the demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and/or communities to advance public health priorities.
• Ability to communicate in French or any other languages would be considered an asset.

The salary for this position ranges from $132,229.37 to $155,564.32 based on qualifications and experience.
