About the Role:

The Branch Technical Solutions Implementer requires a good functional understanding of systems integration and report writing gained through education and project work. This position will have a foundational knowledge of database and reporting tools, systems, or processes. The position is required to support the development and enhancement of a solution to capture and report on the Self-Government Citizen Consultation activities, work with other branches and project teams on technical projects and actively participate in branch planning sessions. The role requires working in a team environment to identify the needs of the solution, support the activities that generate data, work collaboratively to research and make recommendations on technical solutions and work independently to build the solution as directed and develop administrative procedures. 

What you will be doing:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their goals and objectives.
  • Research assigned topics, analyze data, and recommend data structure improvements.
  • Participate in the development and recommendation of a technical solution based on the needs identified by the stakeholder.
  • Build on reporting skills, writing and editing reports with accuracy, clarity, and coherence of content.
  • Develop visual aids (charts, graphs, tables) to present data effectively. and enhance understanding of issues.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
  • Support the building of a vision for how data will be entered into multiple 3rd party systems and collected in systems of record.
  • Document the solution.
  • Develop and document the administration requirements applying related professional standards.
  • Develop, document and perform training on the solution.
  • Import and export data from heterogeneous data sources such as databases, flat files, XML files, and MS Excel.
  • Create test plans, lead the testing effort and evaluate the solution.
  • Work with confidential citizen data (Name, Address, Region, Community Council).
  • Perform data administration on several 3rd party Branch applications.
  • Support the creation and implementation of appropriate data collection, reporting, and/or recordkeeping processes.
  • Respond to the needs of internal and external clients as required.
  • Attend branch meetings, gathering technical solution requirements.
  • Travel to and attend branch events providing technical support.
  • Other reasonable duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:

To meet funding parameters, candidates must:

  • Be a citizen of the MNO (Métis Nation of Ontario)
  • Have graduated within the last year
  • Have an education in the field of study relevant to the Internship

 

  • Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold rights and culture
  • Completion of post-secondary education in Computer Information System, Computer Science, Computer Programming, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analysis, Business Analysis and related fields or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Membership in an accredited association related to the profession (e.g PMP, PMI-PBA, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) 4)
  • An entry-level understanding, ability and exposure to database application development and reporting tools
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Entry-level experience in project coordination, including the design and implementation of project work plans
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing demands and assess changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to assess situations and problem-solve independently
  • Demonstrated ability to work alone/independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated work or educational project experience in a related field

Preferred: 

  • Completion of a Master’s degree or equivalent Post Secondary education in a relevant field
  • Knowledge of Métis-specific and broader indigenous policy and research, key challenges, and programs
  • Demonstrated ability to write high-quality evidence and data-based reports and professional presentations
  • Strong understanding of policy and program development and evaluation
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire and expand knowledge and to be flexible in a demanding and dynamic environment
  • Strong understanding of best practice to working with confidential information
  • Demonstrated understanding of project and application management and project deliverables (would be considered an asset)
