McElhanney is thrilled to announce two exciting opportunities in Edmonton, AB, for both a Junior and Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a recent graduate with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering or a master's degree specializing in structural engineering, candidates will be considered, with preference given to those with experience in structural design, construction inspection, or contract administration on buildings or bridges. The successful candidates will play pivotal roles within our structural engineering division, collaborating with clients, contractors, and other disciplines to deliver projects of varying sizes and complexity. Supported by our experienced local team, you will manage building projects, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction. Moreover, you will integrate with our municipal and land development divisions to enhance our reputation and drive profitability, all while maintaining relationships with long-standing clients in the region. What You’ll Be Doing

Working under the direction of principals and senior engineering staff, this position encompasses a broad range of professional engineering duties including:

  • Structural analysis and design of buildings and industrial structures
  • Working with drafting staff to prepare and issue design drawings
  • Building and managing client relationships
  • Managing project schedules
  • Preparing technical reports
  • Undertaking field reviews and site inspections
  • Construction administration of structural scope during the construction phase of projects

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university. A Master’s level degree is considered an asset

Junior candidates:

  • Registered Engineer-In-Training (EIT) with APEGA (or eligible for registration)
  • Related engineering experience with strong design experience in building structures is an asset

Intermediate candidates:

  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA (or eligible for registration)
  • 5+ years of related engineering experience with strong design experience in building structures
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Canadian standards for steel, concrete, wood, and masonry
  • SAP2000 and SAFE analysis and design preferred
  • Ability to conceptualize in three dimensions
  • Creative thinking and practical problem solving
  • Consulting engineering firm experience is an asset
  • Ability to work independently in an organized manner bringing problems and possible solutions to the partner(s) in charge
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license

What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for junior candidates spans from $58,000 to $87,000 per annum, while for intermediate candidates, it extends from $70,000 to $132,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
