The Opportunity 

 

McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Project Scheduler with our APD team. In this role, you will partner with the APD team during all phases of a project lifecycle and work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams. 

 

This role will be based within the Alternative Project Delivery team which functions companywide with a well-diversified and experienced team with 25 years in Western Canada. The team specializes in complex project design and delivery, while leveraging the 1400+ McElhanney staff for expert local knowledge and support. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects across western Canada. You'll work closely with stakeholders to align incentives, mitigate risks, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. This role offers the ability to be eligible for shareholding privileges in an employee-owned company.

What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams of Project Managers, Engineers, Planners, Designers and Contract Administrators, Sub-Consultants, and other team members
  • Partner with the APD team during all phases of the project lifecycle (bid through closeout)
  • Develop, baseline and maintain logically-linked Primavera P6 resource loaded schedules for Major/Alternative Delivery projects
  • Review schedules developed by others (Owner, Constructor, Lead Designer, Subconsultants, Third Parties), providing comments, analyzing risks and/or integrating into our project delivery schedule
  • Provide input into schedules managed by others, as required
  • Interact regularly with the Design Discipline Leads and Design Management Team to ensure that the schedule is updated and reporting is accurate
  • Produce regular status reporting, highlighting variances or areas of risk, along with proposed mitigation plans, to the Design and Commercial Management team for action
  • Support the Project Controls team for project performance analysis, cost management and invoicing (Earned Value, SPI, CPI, etc.)
  • Creation and automation of project status reporting using PowerBI
  • Provide input for potential schedule delays due to Change Orders/Change Directives and adjust schedule as required for approved changes
  • Support the development and implementation of the project delivery ecosystem and any required Management Plans (Scheduling Management Plan, WBS, work-package breakdowns, naming conventions, etc.)
  • Maintain thorough documentation to ensure traceability and provide support for the commercial and legal teams in the event of a delay claim
  • Review and perform analyses on delays to determine time impact

What You’ll Bring

 

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree (Engineering, Project Management, Business or other related discipline)
  • 6+ years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Strong understanding of principles and application of scheduling and cost baseline concepts
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills
  • Intermediate/Advanced skill with Oracle Primavera P6 software and PowerBI

The salary range for this position is $91,000 – $133,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
