The Opportunity

 

McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our growing Transportation Infrastructure Division in the Vancouver region. As a Project Manager, you will have 5-10 years of professional experience while being a strong team player with high productivity and excellent attention to detail. Aside from your technical skills, you’ll also have the chance to leverage your established contacts and local experience to build out our work in the Cities and Communities market – delivering infrastructure for complete streets, active transportation, public spaces, and other essential public amenities.

Our team has a strong record of delivering some of the most significant active transportation and public space improvements in the Lower Mainland and is looking for a high performer to continue our success. Your work will involve coordination of complex projects involving engineering, landscape architectural, planning, and other professionals to create infrastructure with significant impacts for the communities we work in.

 

We are looking for a dedicated intermediate engineer to focus on project management, conceptual through detailed design, contract administration, construction field reviews, proposal writing, and business development. We are looking for a strong transportation design background, with a passion for improving transportation options for all users. 

What You'll Be Doing

  • Manage projects throughout the Vancouver region and Western Canada
  • Coordinate the design team, other McElhanney services, and engineering subconsultants to deliver effective and innovative designs that meet our clients’ needs
  • Provide technical leadership in the preparation of design packages from conceptual through IFC, compilation of cost estimates and procurement documents, and through contract administration and field review services
  • Prepare effective proposals, liaise with clients, and find opportunities to leverage our inter-disciplinary teams to provide value-added services
  • Generate invoices, manage project budgets and financial reporting, and maintain project schedules
  • Get involved in the communities you are working with and understand the underlying concerns of residents
  • Mentor junior engineering team members

What You'll Bring

  • Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution with 2+ years of experience in managing urban transportation engineering projects and acting as the engineer of record
  • Registration in good standing as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in British Columbia
  • Demonstrate a track record of maintaining satisfied clients and successfully delivering municipal projects
  • Excellent communication skills are a must
  • Strong computer (Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD Civil3D preferred), technical writing, and presentation skills
  • High productivity, attention to detail, and an ability to work well in a team environment are essential
  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility to manage changing priorities on short notice
  • Class 5 driver’s license, clean driving record, and a willingness to visit the communities you’re helping, as is a desire to get involved in local events, and to understand the needs of residents

 

What Can We Offer You?

The salary range for this position is $91,520 - $135,200 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
