The Opportunity 

McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Manager with our Alternative Project Delivery (APD) team. In this role, you will serve as a visionary and strategic leader for Quality, developing, implementing and continually improving internal standards and processes. This role is ideal for a self-starter to excel in a mature, privately held and established engineering, surveying, and support services firm.

McElhanney’s Alternative Project Delivery team functions companywide with a well-diversified and experienced team with 25 years in Western Canada. The team specializes in complex project design and delivery, while leveraging the 1400+ McElhanney staff for expert local knowledge and support.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects across western Canada. You'll work closely with stakeholders to align incentives, mitigate risks, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, to the highest standard of quality.

The salary range for this role is $91, 520 - $135,200 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.

What You’ll Be Doing

•    Overall leader for Quality in the APD group, developing our internal standards, workflows and training to align APD’s processes with McElhanney’s internal QMS.
•    Serve as the Design Quality Manager (DQM) on projects where we are the Lead Designer.
•    Prepare the project Design Quality Management Plan (DQMP) and ensure our team is trained in the processes and audit for compliance. Update and modify the existing suite of Design Quality Management Plan (DQMP) templates and processes to be fit-for-purpose for the project.
•    On projects where we are subcontracted to the Design Lead, review the DQMP for suitability and liaise with the Design Lead for recommended improvements and implementation.
•    Develop and manage the interface to established Corporate QA/QC programs in the APD context.
•    Support the Information Management (Document Control) team in in creating systems to ensure document control, traceability and retention for audit and claims.
•    Conduct regular surveillance and periodic internal audit as per the established audit schedule; identifying non-conforming tasks and assist in timely resolution.
•    Lead the preparation and response to contractually required external audits and regulatory body audits (i.e. ISO).
•    Ensure coordination and conformance to client requirements.
•    Prepare and release certification for completed deliverables.
•    Prepare weekly quality updates for the management team, including status of outgoing and pending deliverables including verification of quality control with mark ups and documented review checklist.

What You’ll Bring

•    Bachelor's degree in engineering, P.Eng in good standing (BC/AB, or eligible for registration).
•    5+ years of relevant Quality Management experience.
•     Completion of Lead and / or Internal Auditor training per ISO 9001 Standard, or eligibility to obtain the designation. 
•    Experience on complex, multi-disciplinary projects, preferably infrastructure/civil.
•    Experience with project delivery in an APD context (P3, DB, Progressive DB, etc.)
•    Past success working in a matrix organization.
•    Ability to document processes and create training/governance to communicate them.
•    Continual improvement mindset, with a people-centric change management approach.
•    Excellent communication and time-management skills.
•     An aptitude for leadership, continuous learning, knowledge sharing and relationship building.
