Engineering Manager - Peru

POSITION DESCRIPTION – ENGINEERING MANAGER, LIMA

Position:           Engineering Manager, LAM, ZC2

Location:          Lima, Peru

Duties:

1. Leads, directs, and manages engineering group staff in the Lima, Peru office, in support of the Company’s technical and business objectives;
2. Monitors and evaluates staff performance, work load, forecast, etc.;
3. Affirms compliance with health and safety standards and the quality management system, as well as other company codes, including business conduct and ethics, values, mission, and the vision of the company;

Reports to:      Regional Operations Manager

Direct Reports: Lima engineering team leads and engineering staff

Committee Participation:

• Staff meetings                                        - weekly
• PM meetings                                           - weekly
• Manager meetings                                - twice monthly
• PMRs                                                         - monthly
• Other LAM-wide meetings                 - as required

Responsibilities:

1. Recommends hiring and termination of direct and indirect reports; management of direct reports so that each fulfills their respective role.
2. Performs performance appraisals of direct reports.
3. Advise the Operations Manager on staff performance.
4. Identify gaps in staffing, interview potential hires, and recommend new hires for the engineering and drafting areas, with coordination amongst other managers and the Operations Manager and General Manager.
5. Takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
6. Participates in establishing regional objectives, and operating and strategic plans.
7. Confirm health and safety programs for staff are followed.
8. Confirm adherence to in-place systems (e.g. QMS, BST, and standards manuals) so that project assignments are delivered within the budget, to the schedule and of the appropriate quality.
9. Monitors staff performance for compliance with company objectives and targets.
10. Assists other managers in developing strategies for their groups and for the office.
11. Identifies and seizes new opportunities and/or responds to market conditions.
12. Monitors local market conditions and directs reactions as required.
13. Leads engineering proposals, new initiatives, selects staff to manage projects, and monitors and directs project progress.
