The primary responsibility of the position is to perform safe, quality repairs to customer equipment in a timely manner, utilizing experience and continuous process improvement to contribute to our team and work environment. 

 

RESPONSIBILITES

Are determined by the facility and may include but are not limited to the following:

 

Service Centre

  • Perform all types of repair and maintenance to transportation equipment
  • Perform all tasks to best practices timelines
  • Provide necessary hand tools for job completion
  • Perform welding, including arc, MIG, Aluminum, Steel, air arc, plasma cutting and acetylene cutting
  • Perform all types of brake, suspension, air system, electrical and body repairs
  • Perform government safety inspections
  • Ensure all parts and consumables being used are recorded on the work order at time of use
  • Keep work area in standard operating condition at all times, including tools stored in standard locations
  • Occasional road service calls for emergency service
  • Promote a safe work environment, follow safety standards at all times and ensure timely reporting of any Health and Safety issues
  • Other work as may be defined

Administration

  • Ensure work order accuracy by providing real-time entry of work performed and parts used
  • Understand repair standards and identify variances to support continuous improvement
  • Attend staff meetings and training, after hours if required
  • Working shift work when required, including weekends
  • Working away from shop for emergency service calls
  • Other work as may be defined

Health and Safety

  • Is aware of the employee’s responsibilities and follows all health and safety policies and procedures as set out in the Health and Safety Manual
  • Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers and customers
  • Is alert to and promptly reports all actual and potentially hazardous situations to Service Manager
  • Does not operate faulty equipment
  • Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by the task or company policy
  • Promptly reports personal injury to your supervisor and seeks first aid as needed
  • Participates in fire and Occupational Health and Safety training and drills.  Reports concerns
  • Strives to improve work processes to reduce risks
  • Knows the facility emergency evacuation plan

QUALIFICATIONS
 

Education and Training:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent with technical training
  • Transport trailer/trade certification or apprenticeship

Skills and Experience:

  • Certified to perform government inspections
  • Able to use large tools typical of transport equipment repair shop
  • Professional and respectful communication skills
  • Strong technical skills related to transportation equipment
  • Fluent in reading and writing in English
  • Basic welding skills

What you'll be doing:

  • Repair and maintain customer equipment.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions of equipment.
  • Travel between customer yards and service calls, roadside repairs.
  • Follow GoRight’s standard work order process and procedures ensuring detailed, accurate and timely records.
  • Complete timely and quality repairs resulting in customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a clean and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to company safety policies and procedures including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Ability to diagnose repair mechanical/electrical problems.
  • You are ambitious and highly motivated to grow a career with GoRight.
  • Valid provincial driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Must be a registered 310J apprentice.
  • 1+ year(s) experience and knowledge of shop practices.
