Job Summary:

ERCO Worldwide is looking for an Engineer to become our Technical Manager at the North Vancouver plant! As Technical Manager, the primary functions are to provide process and project engineering to operations (production and maintenance), implement process improvements which may require equipment selection, maintain plant operating procedures and provide technical support to operator training. This position will be responsible for the Management of Change (MOC) process as well as all Process Safety Management (PSM) activities. In this role, you are a key member of the site leadership team and will report directly to the Plant Manager.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with all departments to improve production efficiency, ergonomics, safety, and maintenance related issues.
  • Follow key operating parameters, troubleshoot problems, and recommend changes to operations.
  • Recommend and implement small to medium projects to improve the unit operations; including analyzing the daily results, seeking out improvements and implementing them, minimizing production and process material costs, and improving process reliability and asset utilization.
  • Ensure that the required written operating instructions are up to date and follow corporate guidelines.
  • Using lean concepts and tools, participate in continuous improvement projects to improve production plant and manufacturing processes.
  • Take the lead role of site MOC system to ensure that changes which could impact operations, product quality, health, safety and the environment are reviewed and revised to eliminate any adverse effects and proper document management.
  • Plant Equipment Maintenance / Major Maintenance Improvement Projects, including being a site liaison with Corporate Project Engineering and acting as an Engineering resource (Mechanical/Electrical) for the maintenance department.
  • Support site Leadership Team with resolution of site action items stemming from Near Misses, OHS initiatives, Internal or External Audits.
  • Backfill for Production / Maintenance Manager absences.

 

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering is required
  • Professional Engineering Designation (PEng) is strongly preferred
  • Experience in Hazzard Analysis (HAZAN/HAZOP) is an asset
  • 6-10 years of experience working in the chemical industry, Pulp & Paper, or manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of Responsible Care Codes and Practises, ISO, Quality Systems, and Business Platforms (JDE, E-One, Dayforce, Coupa, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite, PHA, KMS/MOC) is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to be able to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization and to ensure external and internal reports and letters accurately and legally represent your responsibilities.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.

Salary Range: 110-120K + 10% Bonus
