Job Overview:  

The Production Area Lead will be responsible for managing the day-to-day plant production operations for an assigned area. This includes, but is not limited to, organizing and assigning work to shop floor personnel, instructing, guiding, and assisting employees in the attainment of production and quality goals/standards, developing and mentoring team members, and driving safety performance results that meet and/or exceed company goal and targets. 

This role is permanent full-time with a standard 37.5 hour work week and eligibility for overtime.

Shift: 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure the safety of the workers by reporting all incidents, accidents and/or hazards.
  • Ensure compliance and education of GMP, food safety, health and safety, and company policies and procedures.
  • Participate and/or cooperate with the JHSC to improve safety procedures. 
  • Ensure compliance and education of lean manufacturing principles. 
  • Staffing organization to include attendance management, and staff is provided with the tools and resources to execute their job tasks.
  • Responsible for minimizing waste. 
  • Execute the production schedule. 
  • Ensure the production standards are met or take necessary steps to meet standards to ensure maximum efficiency. 
  • Responsible for checking and ensuring that the Metal detectors are working properly by following the standard operating procedure set for this equipment. Report any deviation noticed to QA technician. 
  • Responsible for communicating issues, and/or problems for the assigned area relating to the production schedule, equipment breakdown and/or any other issues that would affect the subsequent shift through the communication board and directly when turning over the area to the next shift. 
  • Provide training on work procedures and participate in training as required. 
  • Facilitate shop-floor meetings. 
  • Report any deficiencies in systems, facilities, machinery, equipment and/or tools immediately to your Supervisor. 
  • Administration to include shift reporting of production standards. 
  • Trial Coordination. 

Recipe for Success: 

  • Completion of High School diploma. 
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a front-line leadership role in a production- manufacturing operation. 
  • Strong written and verbal skills 
  • Basic Computer skills to include Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word. 
  • Administration skills. 
  • Basic understanding of a scheduling system. 
  • Basic troubleshooting knowledge. 
  • Knowledge of HACCP/GMP requirements. 
  • Knowledge of Company HR and H&S policies. 
  • Procedural knowledge of the systems and equipment. 
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills. 
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work in a team-setting environment. 
  • Conflict resolution skills. 
  • Ability to provide training to other staff.
