Controls Technician - Clark Maintenance

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Controls Technician will be responsible for focusing on PLC, robotic, and HMI programming, implementation, troubleshooting and maintaining backup programming and parameters of all automation devices. 

This role is permanent full-time with a standard 37.5 hour work week and eligibility for overtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for implementing and executing solid system for backup of all programs and parameters for all automation devices.
  • Repair and capture detailed root cause and countermeasures of breakdowns and communicate effectively to management and peers.
  • Identify and implement most secure and effective way to store backup programs and associated parameters.
  • Support the effort to develop and document maintenance procedures, one-point lesson and implement a competency-based training program.
  • Work as a team member on small and large technical projects.
  • Setup calibration process for automation devices and their control instrumentations.
  • Work with the maintenance and engineering team to implement permanent solutions for equipment and process problems.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and skills by attending training sessions and seminars from major manufacturers of automation equipment and related associations, etc.
  • Follow all safety regulations, such as Arc Flash protection and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

 

Recipe for Success:

  • Completion of a post-Secondary Diploma in a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with manufacturing systems, including PLC-based control systems and OPC interfaces preferable.
  • Previous experience working with Industrial Network Protocols (Device Net, Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP, HART).
  • 442A Industrial or 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrical License (fully licensed or Apprentice).
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens and Omron).
  • Strong working knowledge of servo motor controls.
  • Knowledge of the installation, configuration, operation and troubleshooting of route and switched network.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge in IEC programming languages (PLC and HMI programming).
  • Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Basic understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Prior working experience in a manufacturing environment an asset.
  • Possesses and commits to a high level of personal and ethical responsibility.
