We operate 5 Pulp Plants across geographies. 3 Units in Canada, 1 Unit in Sweden and 1 Unit in India. These plants are operated with different pulping technologies that include PHK Kraft, Sodium Bisulfite and Magnesium Bisulfite Process to produce Dissolving Grade Pulp. Our Sweden Facility has a Unique Biorefinery to Produce Lignin and Ethanol. 

The Central Operations Team is a corporate function operating from the Nackawic, NB facility. The Central Operations Team are responsible for adopting best practices in technology and partnering with the units in resolving key process challenges, meeting customers and stakeholder’s expectations. The team will drive reliability improvement programs, quality Improvement initiatives and support capital investments across the pulp plants.

AV Group NB Inc. is currently recruiting for the following position: Mechanical Reliability Engineer

Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of Maintenance Excellence and CAPEX, this Position is the “Go-To” expert and process specialist responsible to provide action plans to ensure reliability in production processes across the pulp units. Play a key role in trouble shooting major issues in mill operations and supporting and achieving the required efficiencies and customer expectations. Develop recommendations to improve the basic design of plant or technology, leading to improvements in plant productivity, efficiency, quality, and cost reduction.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience designing and implementing preventive maintenance systems with focus on condition monitoring;
  • Analyze Maintenance KPIs like pending work-orders, work-order compliance, slippage activities, service requests, breakdowns, maintenance expenses, MTTR, MTBF, equipment life cycle, etc.;
  • Familiar with the RCFA process, find recurring failures and perform root cause analysis of critical breakdowns and monitor implementation of corrective actions;
  • Data analysis to predict potential failures and take respective actions with maintenance teams to prevent machine failure;
  • Highlight key asset parameters like under/over utilization, equipment OEE, slippage of maintenance activities, etc.;
  • Knowledge of engineering concepts like risk management, loss elimination, asset lifecycle management, equipment upgrade decision, etc.;
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Maintenance Software (Maximo-IBM) to reduce downtime;
  • Experience with management of change processes for existing and new machines and equipment;
  • Use performance evaluation tests to find potential safety and production risks;
  • Familiar with CAPEX processes from ideation to commissioning;

Team Working:

  • Good team spirit. The position requires strong collaboration with units and central functions.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal;
  • To work with maintenance area owners/teams to develop strong predictive and proactive maintenance reliability system for the mill equipment;
  • Collaborate with project engineers to develop maintenance system for new equipment or modified assets and installations;
  • To participate in discussion of technical specifications and process development for installation of machine requirements;
  • Push for continuous improvement and reliability in the plant;
  • Update new maintenance activities in the system as per request of maintenance dept. people training on software, resolving issues, etc.;

Qualifications

  • Candidate must have 8-10+ years of experience in Maintenance & Reliability;
  • Must be a Mechanical Graduate Engineer / Engineer Diploma;
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification;
  • Working knowledge in Pulp Mill will be preferred;
  • Analytical ability of maintenance data management;
  • Good experience with MS Office (an Essential) / AutoCAD (an Asset).
