AV Group NB Inc. Nackawic Mill is currently recruiting for a Steam & Recovery Superintendent to join our Steam & Recovery Department.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Steam & Recovery Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible to increase equipment and process reliability within the Recaust area.  Implement cost reduction programs.  Ensure safety in a safety sensitive environment (Kiln, pressure vessels, chemicals and rotating equipment). Play a key role to achieve maximum production while meeting health & safety, environment, cost and quality objectives in compliance with corporate principles & guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure departmental compliance with applicable OH&S legislation, corporate policies, procedures & guidelines;
  • Keep up to date with new technology and management methods;
  • Ensure that operating activities are in accordance with health, safety and environmental legislation;
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and ensure adherence to these standards;
  • Ensure maximum performance of the Recaust through effective use of systems, procedures and resources;
  • Inform Area Manager of potential major production, environmental and quality problems, take immediate corrective action as required, and propose longer term solutions;
  • Manage the needed supply of raw materials for the area;
  • Plan and organize daily operational & maintenance priorities including short shutdowns in the Recaust area;
  • Frequently monitor and review quality parameters;
  • Ensure proper use of resources to minimize overtime;
  • Conduct safety audits and crew meetings.

Qualifications

  • 2nd Class Power Engineer license or 3rd Class Power Engineer with 5+ years of Supervisory Experience;
  • Bachelor of Chemical Engineering preferred;
  • Previous kraft mill and/or Recaust experience would be an asset;
  • Experience working in a unionized environment preferred.
