The Calgary Airport Authority manages and operates YYC Calgary International Airport and YBW Springbank Airport and collaborates with the many partners who make up YYC - from airlines to government agencies and retail outlets. WHAT YOU WILL DO

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Investigate emerging IT solutions (hardware, software, databases, etc.) to enhance systems and strategic planning.
  • Lead discussions to identify process issues, new objectives, and recommend changes for efficiency and alignment.
  • Develop implementation plans, business cases, and cost/benefit analyses. Prepare presentations to support project initiation and budgeting.
  • Design and guide change management strategies for large IT initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational needs.
  • Maintain deep understanding of the Authority’s systems and processes. Aim to improve efficiency and reduce costs by optimizing existing systems.
  • Act as a project advisor, using IT modeling techniques to define requirements, manage project documentation, and control costs.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, manage project issues and risks, and provide regular status updates.
  • Facilitate communication between IT and other departments, manage project dependencies, and oversee process automation.
  • Contribute to the Annual Capital Program, ensuring that IT needs are met for both Calgary International and Springbank Airports.
  • Actively participate in the IT department, engage in professional development, and maintain operational knowledge of business applications.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar.
  • Deep understanding of IT architecture, including applications, networking, cloud, and Microsoft tools with at least 6 years of related experience.
  • Experience with various methodologies for workflow automation and operational support.
  • Familiarity with system development lifecycle, cybersecurity, and airport-specific standards (e.g., IATA STB, CUTE).
  • Knowledge of Authority policies, privacy laws (PIPEDA), and technical standards (IEEE, OSI layers).
  • Strong listening, speaking, and writing skills; ability to adapt communication style.
  • Efficient handling of multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Identifying and mitigating technical and system-related risks.
  • Making impactful decisions regarding project quality and costs.
  • Building relationships, resolving conflicts, and understanding team dynamics.
  • Managing organizational impacts and change barriers.
  • Creating and reviewing IT-related documentation and procedures.
  • Drafting and influencing policies related to IT and operational changes.

WHAT ELSE

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a restricted area identification card (RAIC).
  • This role will be eligible to participate in our hybrid work model.
