Job Purpose:

As the Product Owner - Rapid Data and Content Collection, you will be an integral part of the Impact Product Development team, which is committed to establishing a revolutionary platform to make real impact™  the standard for the sector. Your role is vital in our mission to be the leader in delivering maximum, efficient, and effective impact in the lives of vulnerable girls and boys, while ensuring that every supporter fully understands how their contributions achieve greater impact through World Vision.

 

You will lead the development and implementation of a platform that not only meets the highest standards of data and content quality and relevance but also aligns with market-facing needs for precise, real-time insights into the projects we support. Balancing the operational demands of robust data collection tools and processes with the strategic goal of enhancing donor engagement, you will help position this product as the go-to platform for data and content collection to support decision-making and meaningful storytelling.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead Data Flow Management and Product Development:
    • Oversee the end-to-end development/integration of the rapid data collection product, ensuring the platform effectively captures, processes, and analyzes data and content with accuracy.
    • Ensure that the product delivers tangible value to field participants, prioritizing user experience and relevance to maximize adoption rates and engagement.
    • Collaborate with the Agile Scrum team to translate program and market needs into actionable features, epics, capabilities, and user stories.
    • Prioritize the product backlog to align with strategic business objectives, ensuring the delivery of features with the highest value.
    • Continuously evaluate and iterate on product features based on user feedback and data-driven insights.
  • Ensure Quality and Relevance of Data and Content:
    • Work closely with program/field teams to create a strategy that drives the adoption of the platform, recognizing that without sufficient engagement, the quality and quantity of data and content will be compromised.
    • Integrate passive sources of data and content to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the system.
    • Implement robust monitoring and evaluation standards and processes where/when needed, ensuring the quality and reliability of data collected from various sources.
    • Promote the use of program data for strategic decision-making, resource allocation, and donor engagement.
  • Drive Stakeholder Engagement and Satisfaction:
    • Act as the primary interface between the development team and key stakeholders, including market-facing teams, ensuring their needs are met with high-quality data and content.
    • Represent the product in cross-functional activities, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the platform’s success.
  • Lead Innovation and Market Strategy:
    • Identify growth opportunities and innovative solutions to enhance the platform’s market position and value proposition.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends and competitor activities, incorporating relevant insights into the platform’s development.
    • Collaborate with the Director of the Impact Product Development team and other key leaders to align the product’s vision with organizational goals.
  • Foster a Culture of Learning and Continuous Improvement:
    • Promote a culture of learning within the team and across the organization, encouraging the use of data for continuous improvement and innovation.
    • Ensure that feedback loops from the field are integrated into the product development process and that insights are continuously integrated to improve user satisfaction and product effectiveness.
    • Lead the development of knowledge management strategies, ensuring that insights and lessons learned are effectively shared and utilized.

 

Qualifications Required:

 

  • Preferred:A background in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) with at least 5 years of experience in an international development organization. Strong background in data collection, sampling strategies, and analysis.
  • Alternatively:A strong background in product management with at least 5 years of experience, particularly with experience in customer-facing products that require strategic engagement and adoption rate improvements. Proven experience in driving user engagement and implementing strategies to increase product adoption.
  • University degree in international development studies, product development, data science, business administration, or a related field.
  • Background in knowledge management is an asset.
  • Highly interested in product development and how meaningful products could benefit the lives of the most vulnerable.
  • Highly collaborative and comfortable with both high-level planning and tactical execution.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to provide solutions that meet customer needs
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment preferred, with a proven ability to prioritize and deliver high-impact features.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to handle criticisms and/or justify decisions.  Expect major objections.  Has experience navigating through conflicting priorities, turning ambiguity into clarity in a fast-changing environment.
  • Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in challenging situations.
  • Embraces a non-hierarchical approach, modeling transparency, collaboration and trust across the team
  • Other personal attributes: assertive, energetic, enthusiastic, confident, optimistic, inquisitive, persuasive, ambitious and motivational.
