Job Title: Senior Philanthropy Advisor 

Position Term: FullTime Permanent
Primary Location: Ontario or British Colombia

Reporting to: Director, Philanthropy (B2C)
Workplace Type: Remote (Within Canada)

 

Job Purpose: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior Philanthropy Advisor that plays a crucial role within the Major Gift team at World Vision Canada, responsible for driving revenue through strategic relationship management with donors capable of significant contributions.  This position focuses on identifying, cultivating, and securing transformational gifts ($100K+) with a strong emphasis on achieving revenue targets and maximizing donor engagement. In addition, this role will work closely with the internal teams to strategize and execute fundraising initiatives that align with our organizational goals and priorities. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement individual donor strategies to guide donors through the fundraising cycle 
  • Support senior leadership, executives, and volunteers in effectively engaging major donors to meet revenue goals 
  • Increase donor contributions by establishing and nurturing meaningful relationships, understanding donor interests and capacity to give 
  • Communicate and manage donor relationships effectively using tailored approaches for maximum impact and continued support 
  • Utilize donor data and research to develop targeted donor engagement plans 
  • Actively prospect and cultivate donors through strategic networking and event participation 
  • Continuously improve personal and team performance in driving major gift sales 
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as Communications to develop messaging and materials that promote Philanthropic initiatives and recognize donor contributions 
  • Monitor and evaluate fundraising performance, track donor interactions, and maintain accurate records in the database 
  • Stay informed on best practices, trends, and regulations in Philanthropy and Fundraising and share knowledge and insights back to the internal business 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field 
  • 5-8 years of experience in senior sales or fundraising roles with a proven track record in Major Gifts or client management 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the donor relationship cycle, moves management principles, and major gift development areas such as events, stewardship, and planned giving 
  • Strategic thinker with strong business development skills, adaptable in remote environments 
  • Excellent communicator with a results-driven mindset and experience in capital campaigns 
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation in achieving sales targets 
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and project management skills 
  • Passion for the mission and values of the non-profit sector, with a commitment to social impact

  • Key indicators related to donor management and sales activity 
  • Pipeline health and growth 

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements 

  • Required domestic travel of at least 40%
