Westland Insurance Group Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Regulatory & Compliance in Surrey, BC at our Head Office (hybrid). 

Expected Compensation: The expected hiring range for this role is $86,400 to $108,000 based on a 35-hour work week. Actual offered salary will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, as well as market conditions for the role, and internal equity.

As a Manager, Regulatory & Compliance, you will work with stakeholders across the business in the development and implementation of sound internal policies and procedures which are compliant with all industry regulatory bodies nationally.  You will be responsible for monitoring  effective compliance with all established policies and procedures.

Why we’ll love You: 

 

  • You have 5-7 years of insurance experience, including 3 years in a management role within the retail insurance environment or a centralized support area.
  • You hold a CAIB or CIP designation.
  • You have a broad understanding of the regulatory environment across Canada and best practices for insurance agency operations.
  • You possess demonstrated knowledge and technical expertise in insurance products and processes.
  • You have a proven ability to identify areas of risk and recommend solutions to complex issues.
  • You exhibit strong decision-making skills.

 

Once here, you'll:

 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to develop standardized policies and procedures aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Interpret legislation and regulatory guidelines, providing advice on compliance with applicable laws.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive regulatory compliance management framework.
  • Oversee and monitor the compliance attestation and audit process.
  • Identify and address instances of non-compliance, working with business leaders to implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain onboarding training and annual compliance sign-offs to ensure staff adherence to risk control frameworks.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, monitoring the regulatory environment to identify emerging issues and upcoming changes, and updating internal policies accordingly.
  • Oversee internal licensing processes to ensure efficient and accurate handling of insurance licenses across all jurisdictions.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on licensing requirements for acquisitions.
  • Coordinate regulatory notice requirements related to acquisitions and corporate changes.
  • Respond to inquiries or complaints from regulatory bodies, offering expertise and direction to jurisdictional Designated Representatives.
  • Undertake other duties and special projects as required.
