We are searching for an experienced Hardware Engineering Chapter Manager in Richmond, BC, who is passionate about contributing and leading a team developing and maintaining our wearable SmartCap product line and other hardware products we offer.

This exciting role is to be the leading internal and external resources that cover board design, firmware development, creation and curation of edge artificial intelligent, mechanical design, and electrical design for new and evolving products.

Responsibilities

  • Methods, Standards & Practices – monitor, adopt, develop new sustainable methods and technologies relative to your chapter.  Disseminate, guide, train, and gather feedback on the best practices to the department.  Coordinate and/or attend concept/design/code reviews to ensure the knowledge and understanding has transferred to the wider team. Own the process, policies and tools that support: BOM management, item management and definition for off-the-shelf and made-to-specification items, change management (BOMs, items, approved vendor & manufacturer lists, documentation, manufacturing definition, etc)

  • Product – collaborate with product management and other teams to understand business and technology needs, maintain visibility for timelines and release schedules.

  • Agile - operating in the role of scrum master and agile coach of a squad

  • Planning – participate in team events, roadmap development and milestone schedule creation including forecasting budgets, resources, skills, dependencies, requirements, architectural / infrastructure runway, etc

  • Mentoring & Career Development – help our employees to be great: Understand the employee and their goals, and facilitate mentors, education, experience, exposure to help them grow personally / technically and be better leaders

  • Performance – set goals, facilitate behavioral and technical feedback, provide feedback as near real-time as possible, evaluate performance, share observations with other R&D leader

  • Recruiting – actively involve in all stages of the recruiting process.  Find capable people with the right behaviors

  • Continuous Improvement – constantly work on improving the performance, productivity, quality, processes, information organization, etc... of your chapter

Qualifications & Skills

  • 6+ years developing products that involve electronics
  • 2+ years as a technical leader of an engineering team
  • Extensive experience with the full development life cycle for both analogue and digital electronics
  • Extensive experience with managing product certifications
  • Experience with managing multidisciplinary projects involving both internal and outsourced teams.
  • Experience with small package, energy efficient electronics, and wearable products
  • Experience with new product introduction process for products including, factory introduction, ramp, monitoring and maintenance.
  • Experience with supplier development

 

Nice to Have

  • Experience with developing firmware in C or C++, embedded RTOS such as FreeRTOS or embedded Linux, and machine learning and trained algorith 
  • Managing/leading change management process 
  • Managing/leading sellable and non-sellable item lifecycle 
  • Configuring and using a PLM tool such as Arena Solutions 
  • Managing/leading offshore supplier and manufacture selection and management
  • Support and/or management of manufacturing test (ICT, end of line, etc) 

 

Education & Eligibility

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Physics or equivalent
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.

 

Travel

  • Availability for 20% international travel.

Base salary of $140,000 - $170,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
