Current Rate of Pay: Min = $21.39/hr, Max = $24.81/hr

Employment type: Seasonal

Hours of work: Up to 40 hrs/week

How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

The Camp Counsellor is responsible for the supervision of campers and the delivery of interactive programs and activities of camps for various age groups within TRCA’s portfolio of facilities and sites.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Leads interactive and engaging camp programs for summer camp groups of all ages and abilities.
  • Provides supervision of campers to ensure compliance with camp rules and prevent accidents.
  • Coordinates the daily preparation and clean-up of camp programs, ensuring proper use of camp facilities and equipment.
  • Reports and records any incidents, such as accidents or rule violations, to senior camp staff.
  • Develops and leads camp activities.

 

What will you need to succeed:

Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)

  • High school diploma.
  • Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C certification required.
  • Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector Screening. Employees/candidates under the age of eighteen (18) years are not eligible to have a VSS, therefore will not be required.

 

Experience

  • 1+ year of experience working with or volunteering with children in a group setting.
  • Experience delivering programs and interactive activities.

Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies

  • Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise communication in both non-emergency and emergency situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to solve issues.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and co-operatively as part of a team.
