Compression & Controls - Journeyman Shop Mechanic

Our Calgary team is looking to hire a new In-Shop Engine Overhaul Technician to join our Compression team!  In this role you will be performing thorough, zero hour overhauls and test runs on Caterpillar and Waukesha natural gas engines in a clean and organized shop environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working safely at all times and in accordance with the company HSE policies.
  • Complete work on medium to large natural gas engines: including but not limited to, disassembly, cleaning and preparation of parts, precision measurement/inspection, documentation, failure analysis, reassembly, test run/troubleshooting, and painting.
  • Rebuild engine components and accessories: including but not limited to, water and oil pumps, turbochargers, intercoolers, governors, magnetos, etc.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Performing all aspects of repairs and overhauls within established timeframe.
  • Troubleshoot machinery and equipment using keen attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with the team on repair strategies to accurately inform customer quotes.
  • Mentor apprentices and support other technicians by sharing your information and knowledge.
  • Develop positive professional relationships with existing and potential internal and external customers.
  • May be required to travel to customer sites to perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and overhauls.
  • Familiar with natural gas compression parts and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Valid Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic, Natural Gas Compression, or Millwright Certification.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability and willingness to drive long distances, on occasion.
  • Clean drivers abstract must be provided at time of hire.
  • At least 3 years of related work experience.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of engine and compressor performance and operations.
  • Self-motivated team player with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must have own hand and power tools. Precision measurement and specialty tools are provided.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have experience with Caterpillar 3304, 3306, 3406, 3408, 3412, and Waukesha F18, and H24 engines.
