To assist with the operation of line processing at the manufacturing facilities in a safe and productive manner.

Major Duties

  • Work in and promote a safe environment.
  • Ensure the production of a safe and quality product in accordance with product specifications and HACCP/Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Must work strictly in compliance with all Health & Safety requirements.
  • Must work strictly in compliance with all GMP & HACCP requirements.

 

Responsible for all Duties and tasks required to ensure compliance with Company requirements and government regulations. Responsible for removal of food and other waste from the production line continuously during the shift. Ensures that all moisture and water is removed from the floor, ceilings, and overheads in both the packaging and processing areas where and when required.  Checks, monitors, and assists to ensure the availability of the daily general plant supply.  E.g., Gloves, Hairnets, Earplugs, masks etc.   Ensures that cleanliness is maintained in all the work areas. Ensure that all equipment and parts that are not required for the days run are put together or stored in the properly designated areas. Responsible for clearing all production emergency exits doors and passageways of ice, snow or other materials. Ensures that the outside perimeter is maintained clean and clear of debris daily. Ensures cleanliness of the food and trash compactor, as well as the surrounding area. Keeps accurate records of required information during the shift and makes reports accordingly.  Working at heights may be required.

 

SHIFT START UP & SHUTDOWN: Assist in the safe, healthy and efficient startup & shutdown operation of production.

 

LINE SETUP: Assists with line set up and changes.

 

REPORTS: Reports are accurate, clear and informative. All needed data to reflect the non-compliance issues of the day’s events must be recorded. All comments should describe the facts, action taken, and results.

 

COMMUNICATION:  Communicate with colleagues and supervisors with an open mind and exchange feedback in a constructive manner.

 

Any work-related duties requested by Production Supervisor, Lead hand and or DESIGNATE.

 

Skills & Abilities

  • Necessary skills to organize, plan and report.
  • Necessary skills for verbal and written communication in English.
  • Must be able and willing to move heavy equipment and materials for line set up, changes and operation.
  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment once training is provided.
  • Secondary School Education or equivalent. (Grade 12 preferred).
  • Necessary skills for working in a team environment.

 

Working Conditions

  • This position requires 100% physical effort entailing standing, lifting and repetitive movements.
  • The work environment is wet, damp, dusty and refrigerated (50-degree F or less).
  • Occasionally working in a freezer environment.  Warm clothing is required.
  • The noise level may exceed 90 decibels. Hearing protection is mandatory.
  • The use of safety rubber boots is mandatory.
  • All PPE must be used as required for safety.
  • There may be occasional travel between plants.
