Transportation Coordinator

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Plant Manager - Mitchell, and in coordination with the Procurement Manager on inbound Live transport, the Transportation Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of transportation including domestic, International and US freight.

Key Accountabilities:

• Liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including Internal recall team, customer service, quality assurance, production scheduling, procurement/live team, and External carriers.
• Plan and coordinate all aspects of transportation, including domestic, International and US freight using the Sofina TMS. 
• Ensure that all relevant data is properly collected and maintained in TMS in conjunction with their manager.
• Tendering loads to carriers through TMS
• Ordering Certificates from CFIA for USA shipments.
• Preparing Export Documentation for US loads including all Export documentation.
• Provide feedback to management on areas of opportunities to lower transportation costs through payload improvement, load consolidation and asset utilization.
• Investigate and address all OS&D reports from transportation providers.
• Act as primary point of contact to 3^rd party Live haul transporters.
• Coordinate with 3^rd party Live haul transporters to schedule and optimize timing of daily loads.
• Track and follow-up on key performance metrics, such as partially open and empty crates, trailers arrivals times, animal welfare, etc. 
• Review weekly live haul invoices for accuracy. 
• Additional support as required to cover off any manpower/vacation gaps.

Requirements:

• 1-2 years experience in a Supply Chain / Logistics environment preferred.
• TMS experience is an asset. 
• Experience with logistics, dispatching, warehousing, and cold storage is required.
• Proficiency with Outlook and Microsoft applications, especially MS Excel and MS Word
• Overtime may be required occasionally.
