Exciting opportunity! The GTM (Go-to-Market) Operations team is the backbone of our product and merchandising organizations responsible for driving business excellence and leading the end-to-end GTM process to achieve organizational goals. The role of Director, GTM Operations involves overseeing a team that manages the entire GTM process, from strategy development through execution, ensuring seamless integration across all functions.

The Director, Go To Market Operations for Roots will be responsible for:  

  • Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Leadership:
      • Create, maintain, and optimize the GTM process and timelines, ensuring alignment from strategy to hindsight.
      • Lead product milestone preparation and coordination, clarifying roles, responsibilities, inputs, and outputs.
      • Develop and manage feedback mechanisms and conduct analysis to continuously improve milestones and processes.
      • End to end process management across multiple product, merchandising and marketing functions
      • Executive presentation preparation
      • Influence and build relationships cross-functionally
    • Team Management & Development:
      • Directly manage two reports: focused on merchandising and marketing-specific operations.
      • Foster a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations, providing ongoing feedback, and supporting professional development.
    • Process & Milestone Management:
      • Drive process, templates, deliverables and timelines for all market-related milestones for the product, merchandising and marketing organizations, including feedback mechanisms for continuous improvement.
      • Own the execution of the GTM process, including agenda setting, format guidance, and role clarification.
      • Oversee the integration of internal and external partners into GTM milestones and processes.
      • Develop communication tools and ensure effective stakeholder engagement.
      • Track and manage process and milestone KPIs, ensuring targets are met.
    • Strategic Operations & Special Projects:
      • Develop seasonal hindsight reporting with a focus on Range Architecture, SKU Efficiency and ABC article analysis
      • Lead strategic operational processes and projects, including range architecture, brand data/insights, and analytics.
      • Support the execution of Market Seasonal Input and Commercial Input processes.
      • Oversee seeding sampling processes and support special project collaborations.
    • Calendar & Communication Management:
      • Establish, align, and communicate all product, merchandising and marketing-relevant calendars and key dates.
      • Manage communication plans, resource sharing, and template creation around milestones and processes.
    • Scope of Influence:
    • Drive end to end process implementation/revisions, Planning and Acumen, Samples, Strategic Operational Processes and Projects, Range architecture, brand data/insights & analytics.
    • Influence GTM process objectives, participant roles, location, and timing.
    • Shape milestone roles and responsibilities, deliverable formats, and planning for major milestones.
    • Create and drive in partnership with finance on an integrated business plan (IBP).

Top candidates for the Director, GTM Operations role will have the following: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in GTM operations, merchandising, or related fields.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of Communications, Brand Activation and Merchandising functions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to work successfully both independently and cross-functionally, with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Ability to learn new complex systems, tools and processes quickly and resourcefully.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, analyze root cause(s), draw valid conclusions and propose viable business solutions.
  • Proficient in project management tools and software.
  • Strong computer sills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Smartsheet
