Position Overview

 

We’re looking for a highly organized team player to join our team as Marmot Basin’s Assistant Grooming Supervisor. You’ll help manage our Snowcat Operators and Grooming department while working closely with internal teams and our valued guests. You’ll be the champion of excellent internal service, ensuring your team are ready to assist every department, every day.

 

You’ll work as part of the overall Mountain Operations team and will assist in all day-to-day aspects of our Grooming department by helping oversee the daily departmental requirements including new operator training, operator skill development, departmental scheduling & daily grooming requests.  You’ll also be responsible for helping maintain records and documents such as employee training files, incident reports, schedules, payroll, etc.

 

You should expect to be working outside in any, all and sometimes adverse weather conditions.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

You’ll help oversee all daily operations and staff in the Grooming department. Here’s an idea of your key responsibilities:

 

  • Work collaboratively with Human Resources and the Grooming/Snowmaking Supervisor to recruit new Operators
  • Assist in managing and implementing staff training, scheduling, and compliance in accordance with company policy ensuring all Grooming staff are competent in Marmot Basin’s procedures and policies
  • Report any damage to the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor, investigate grooming incidents and manage any corrective action necessary
  • Report any mechanical issues that would affect the grooming schedule to Mountain Operations
  • Coordinate Grooming needs with other departments including Lift Operations, Safety Operations, Special Events, Snowmaking & Terrain Park
  • Attend weekly Mountain Operations meetings, perform weekly on-hill quality inspections
  • Ensure nightly Grooming activities meet company and guest expectations
  • Communicate company messages to the Grooming team
  • Help prepare and balance department budgets and payroll
  • Manage/archive all Grooming records and documents

 

Ideally you will have…

 

  • Previous supervisory and risk management experience in the ski industry
  • Experience operating Prinoth snowcats & winch cats
  • Ability to ski/snowboard at an intermediate level or better
  • Mechanical aptitude (a background in mechanical experience preferred)
  • Excellent physical & mental health
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and computer skills (Word, Excel, etc)
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license (or better)

This is a full-time, seasonal winter role with RMSI-JTAC (Ski Marmot Basin), 40 hours per week and must be available to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
