PURPOSE OF POSITION:

We are looking for top analytics talent to tackle data management and analysis challenges in the real world.  The Data Engineer will apply their experience in designing, implementing, and operating stable, scalable, low-cost solutions to flow data from production systems into the data lake, data warehouse and other end-user facing applications. The analytics services we deliver provides all RRM stakeholders actionable insights to help drive meaningful business decisions and results.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

  • Data Design, Development and Integration: Develop, implement and/or maintain ELT/ETL processes from multiple systems incorporating data management best practices, scalable data models and data warehouses. Collaborate with the data and analytics team to design, build, and optimize data pipelines that ensure efficient data flow and processing.

 

  • Data Governance and Security: Support data governance policies and data stewardship practices, ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and implement security measures across data pipelines, storage, and access control.

 

  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Continuously monitor the performance and reliability of data and analytics systems, identify bottlenecks, recommend improvements, and implement optimizations using Microsoft performance monitoring and tuning tools. Develop and implement strategies to improve ongoing data quality and accuracy using technical solutions.

 

  • Continuous Improvement and Development: Provide technical inputs to agile processes, such as epic, story and task definition to resolve issues and remove barriers throughout the lifecycle of data pipeline development.  Experiment with new data tools/methods and are abreast with the latest trends in data.

 

  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT and business units to understand their data and analytics requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and provide regular updates on project status and performance.

 

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data management and warehousing including data mining and data cleansing. techniques, ETL/data integration, and data modelling.
  • Experience with the ability to write ad-hoc and complex queries to perform data analysis.
  • Demonstrable experience with SQL, including SSIS/AS.
  • Experience in building logical and physical design of data, relational/non-relational databases
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • P&C insurance industry considered an asset.
  • Experience or certification in Microsoft technologies, including SQL Server, Azure Data Lake, Power BI, Azure Machine Learning, and Azure Databricks considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in DevOps delivery models and their implementation for data and analytics (DataOps), including pipeline automation with CI/CD, Data Quality Management and Operations considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Agile and project support and management software such as Jira and Confluence considered an asset.
