We’re looking for our next DevOps Engineer. Could It Be You?

As a DevOps Engineer on the Database team, you'll be instrumental in implementing core database infrastructure components for cloud-native applications. You’ll develop tools and services that empower our Engineering teams, collaborating across departments to influence the design and delivery of our database infrastructure.

What’s it like working as a DevOps Engineer at Questrade?

You'll be part of a team that provides QTG's data store expertise and tooling to enhance developer productivity. You will

  • Automate cloud database infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code.

  • Develop toolsets and services for seamless delivery of applications and infrastructure components.

  • Collaborate with QTG's infrastructure teams to promote best engineering practices, ensuring stable and high-performance database environments.  

 

So are YOU our next DevOps Engineer? You are if you…

  • Champion “Production Quality” and create cutting-edge cloud database infrastructure through developing automation.

  • Develop and enhance tooling for administration tasks, disaster recovery automation, and developer support.

  • Lead and engage in technical discussions to aid in system design, analysis, and troubleshooting.

  • Help engineering teams to develop, test, debug and release scalable, resilient and highly available cloud-native applications quickly.

  • Offer expert-level knowledge during incidents or other special events when on call.

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of cloud computing concepts and solutions, including public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.

  • Experience with at least one of the predominant public clouds (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

  • Hands-on experience with container technologies, like Docker runtime and Kubernetes orchestration. Knowledge of Google Kubernetes Engine or OpenShift is nice to have.

  • Ability to write code in Python and at least one other  language (i.e Golang, NodeJS, Bash, etc.)

  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines using eg. Gitlab CI

  • Experience working with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.

  • Exposure or familiarity with the Linux Operating system

  • Experience in interacting with critical database systems

  • Possess excellent organizational, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to write clear technical documentation.

  • Maintain a good grasp of monitoring and alerting systems.

 

Additional kudos if you have…

  • Experience with creating developer tooling (Python, Bash, cicd pipelines)

  • Experience with GCP

  • Experience working with database engines such as MySQL, MongoDB
