The Human Resources Director will have regional/national  HR responsibility for operational sites.  You will partner with Function and Operational VPs, and key Senior Leaders to support initiatives and strategies, provide HR subject matter expertise, as well as support and drive a values-driven culture at a grass-roots level.

You will manage and oversee the day-to-day operations as well as possess a strong strategic mindset to build and maintain HR programs, initiatives and strategies. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides guidance to leadership on employment and company policies/practices to ensure fair and consistent implementation/application for legislative compliance, positive team member relations, and to mitigate litigation. 
  • Responsible for leading complex investigations
  • Responsible for assessing relevant HR risks and company exposure in all Team Member matters
  • Responsible for leading and developing a high performing HR team, defining roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations, and ensuring that each member has the resources and support needed to excel in their roles.
  • Establish relationships with HR leaders across the organization to align and roll out communications developed corporately.
  • Assist in identification of emerging talent, provide support and input in building meaningful development plans and succession plans.
  • Continue to develop team direct reports residing in Corporate and field operations, with a focus on building capabilities to enable a balance of tactical support as well as implementation of strategic priorities to meet business goals and provide value to customers.
  • Roll out global Employee Opinion Survey and provide analytics, feedback, recommendations to Senior Management on action items.
  • In partnership with the HR team, develop and execute on initiatives that improve culture, team member relations, talent management, team member development, engagement, and training.
  • Reinforce best culture and best HR practices when at the sites.
  • Provide input and manage the department HR budgets.
  • Work with Total Rewards and cross functional teams to provide recommendations for hourly rates by region
  • Lead new start-up/acquisitions with communication, recruitment, onboarding, culture and orientation.
  • Working with Total Rewards to provide recommendations on rates based on demographics

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Human Resources Degree, CHRL Designation or equivalent work experience
10-15 years’ experience including management level experience

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated leadership capability; experience in managing a team of direct reports preferred
  • This role requires a proven ability to develop and articulate clear and compelling HR strategies in a performance driven culture.
  • Strong organizational and influencing skills are necessary, to effectively translate these strategies into actionable initiatives that can be implemented across many sites.
  • Proven ability to provide direction to leadership in all areas of HR, including salary recommendations, performance management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a track record of preparing and facilitating clear and concise employee/leader communications, executive briefings and Board-level presentations.
  • Strong working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, talent acquisition, employee relations, labour relations, diversity and inclusion, talent management, talent development, performance management, change management and employment laws.
  • Initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation; demonstrated agility and resilience to creatively solve problems.
  • Occasional travel (20%)
  • Role requires incumbent to remain up-to-date and knowledgeable in Canadian legislation and labour law
