Lift Maintenance Apprentice

Under the mentorship of our Journeyperson millwright team, the apprentice will assist in the monitoring and maintaining of all lift equipment to ensure safe, reliable lift transportation.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Perform all scheduled maintenance, repairs on assigned lifts to ensure safe, reliable lift transportation and compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.  
  • Monitor and maintain all assigned lift equipment to ensure safe operations and maximum life.  Assist on all other lifts as needed.  
  • Evaluate and, if possible, start stalled lifts to minimize guest discomfort. 
  • Assist in running lifts on evac drive whenever necessary. 
  • Follow lift breakdown and evacuation procedures.  Perform all necessary paperwork to verify work completed.  
  • Attend trade school for Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) on an annual basis  
  • Participate in ongoing technical education program to learn more about techniques, practices and procedures of passenger ropeway maintenance and repair as prescribed by the manager to maintain and upgrade proficiency in lift maintenance skills.  
  • Assist in developing and upgrading maintenance procedures and safety standards.  
  • General upkeep of assigned shop duty, including inventory control, ordering of stock and equipment repair.   
  • Perform care and maintenance of tools, rigging and other equipment provided for lift maintenance needs, to ensure maximum life and utility.   
  • Responsible for following safety regulations and handling regulations as put forth in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for regulated substances. 
  • Maintain and operate snowmobiles, trucks, ATV, for safe, efficient transportation needs.

 

Experience/Requirements:

  • Apprentice level 3 completed, Apprentice level 4 preferred.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Previous ski resort experience preferred.
  • Possess a valid BC driver's license. 
  • Ability to fluently read, write, and speak in English.
  • Must be able to work at heights in excess of 20 feet using safety harness and fall protection equipment.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and parts (50 lbs.)
  • Prepared and able to stand in a relatively stationary position for extended periods (2-4 hours)
  • Adverse weather should be expected. Work extended hours (10+hr/day) safely and in all adverse working conditions.
