About the Role

The primary objectives of the Branch Operations Coordinator are to collaborate with the Director of Communications in conceptualizing, designing, and developing internal communications strategies. The Branch Operations Coordinator is responsible for synergizing the communications strategy with communications plans, products and activities.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide customer service support to internal and external clients
  • Delivery of associated program goals and objectives, as outlined in work plans or other documentation
  • Utilize functional knowledge and experience to meet organizational demands in a timely and effective matter, within budget, or the parameters of the funding agreement(s)
  • Deal with confidential and sensitive issues in a timely manner, with tact and discretion as required
  • Perform administrative and support duties such as monitoring work queues, general e-mail boxes, web ‘contact us’ requests, preparing briefing notes, program reports, presentations, or other materials to communicate and/or share knowledge and expertise
  • Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the services, programs and supports offered
  • Engage in proactive preparation and oversight to meet demands of upcoming projects and deadlines;
  • Support all MNO Branches with communications needs including branding, sharing of information to social media and making regular updates to the website
  • Identify opportunities of improving MNO brand identity with multiple stakeholders, and drive employee engagement;
  • Collaborate with other Department of Communications staff to support in the standardization across media platforms;
  • Review the MNO website and MNO Calendar to identify opportunities of improvement, liaise with the Director of Communications on strategic direction of the tool;
  • Oversight of MNO cataloguing, archiving, and storage;
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending professional developmental workshops, reviewing professional publications;
  • Amend existing a future designs/platforms proactively or after feedback to ensure maintenance of brand identity and keeping abreast of design trends;
  • Supports the Director of Communications in developing internal communications messages, standards;
  • Plans and maintains a schedule/calendar for frequent communications utilizing a variety of channels;
  • Takes initiative to source information for internal communications;
  • Other reasonable duties as may be assigned

Qualifications:

  • Strong desire to act in the service of the Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold rights and culture
  • Undergraduate degree in Public Relations, Communications or Journalism
  • Registration with a provincial governing body (for certain roles)
  • High degree of technology literacy and proficiency in standard office equipment
  • Advanced communications skills
  • Superior organization skills and time/priority-management
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Ability to work alone/independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience in a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of indigenous (preferably Métis) culture, issues, and current activities
  • One year or more experience in a similar/comparable role
  • Experience dealing with confidential information
  • Experience working in coordinating and delivering programs and/or services
  • Experience with Adobe and Photoshop
  • Bilingualism (Considered an asset)
