The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Project Manager in the Geomatics Industry to join our growing Major Projects team. This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual who has experience leading project teams and has a passion for business development. This role is ideal for someone who is looking for a challenging opportunity in Project Management, while maintaining a focus on positive business outcomes, communication skills and bringing technological innovation to the industry.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Manage pipeline, transmission and linear infrastructure projects
  • Leading survey crews on projects; communicating scope and scheduling information to team members, setting expectations, and ensuring timeliness of project tasks; delegating responsibilities, monitoring progress and supervising crews and office staff
  • Develop new business and establish strategic relationships with key clients, agencies, and partners
  • Oversee interpretation of field data to create accurate survey drawings and legal plans, which will include downloading and editing field data, interpreting field notes and sketches, and processing conventional and GPS data
  • Generate invoices for clients and track against agreed client budgets
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams, providing mentorship and guidance to technical staff.

Salary Range: 100K-150K Per Annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.                                                                                                                                           

What You'll bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in a survey project management role demonstrating competency on pipeline construction, transmission, or linear infrastructure projects; strong assets for consideration:
  • Degree in Geomatics Engineering and/or a Professional Land Surveying designation 
  • Experience in legal, engineering, and construction surveys 
  • Experience in technological innovation
  • Experience with survey calculations software, MicroSurvey and/or Civil 3D
  • Registration as a Canadian Land Surveying professional or registration as a LST with ALS
  • Experience with all government levels, construction contractors and developers
  • Demonstrated sound business development and client liaison skills and a keen entrepreneurial spirit
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High productivity, attention to detail, and an ability to work well as a team player
