Role Overview

 

Our McElhanney team has an opportunity for an Intermediate Bridge Engineer to join our Vancouver, BC office. This role will focus on providing structural design, inspection, evaluation, and construction support for bridge projects. This is an amazing opportunity for an intermediate engineer who is looking to take their career in bridge engineering to the next level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design support for structural projects, focused primarily on bridges and retaining walls, but also potentially the opportunity to work on the design of marine structures
  • Communicate and work in an integrated team environment to ensure project schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved and maintained
  • Provide structural inspections and/or construction supervision for structural engineering projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus or interest in structural engineering and 4 to 8 years of bridge design and analysis experience
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PEng) an asset, must be registered as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) in good standing in BC or eligibility for registration
  • Demonstrated experience applying local and relevant design codes and practices. Design experience with the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure would be an asset
  • Experience with seismic engineering and performance-based design principles. A related Master’s Degree would be an asset
  • Excellent communication skills—written and verbal
  • Strong sense of initiative and the ability to effectively work as part of a team

 

What Can We Offer You?

 

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $120,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
