The Opportunity
McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for an Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) Monitor and Construction Field Reviewer to join our Engineering team in Surrey. This role is ideal for someone who is looking for a challenging opportunity in Land Development, with skills to be utilized on a wide variety of Land development-based projects. The ideal individual will come with solid experience in dealing with the local government and developers within the lower mainland.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Complete Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) Monitoring for compliance with the local bylaws
- Conduct field inspections to monitor the quality and progress of the work being performed and perform contract administration duties as defined by MMCD
- Review and respond to any requested changes or RFI's during construction that may affect cost and schedule by obtaining necessary approvals, and recommend and issue Contemplated Change Notices (“CCN”) and Change Orders (“CO”) where appropriate and in MMCD format
- Track and report site instructions, change orders and force account work; ensure necessary approvals are obtained
- Prepare a deficiency list and schedule for completion issue substantial and total completion, when appropriate, and complete warranty closeout review and documentation
- Inspect to identify field and design issues, facilitate corrective measures, and perform constructability reviews
What You’ll Bring
- Diploma in Civil Engineering with approximately 1+ years of progressive experience in construction field reviews of land development and municipal infrastructure projects
- Registration in good standing as an A.Sc.T in British Columbia, or eligibility to be registered.
- Registration in good standing as a Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC) in Canada, or eligibility to be registered
- Ability to interpret construction, contracts, drawings, and specifications and compare them with construction in progress, detecting faulty materials and workmanship, and suggesting appropriate remedies is preferred
- Ability to identify potential issues and resolve problems
- Exceptional organization and follow-up skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with construction inspection and contract administration is preferred
What Can We Offer You?
The salary range for this position is $53,768 - $78,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
