Position: Registered Dental Hygienist 

The Role 

We are seeking a PT RDH- SATURDAYS 9 am – 4pm to join our team. The candidate must have a Dental Hygiene license (CDHO) and be in good standing with the governing body. IPAC, CPR and First Aid are non-negotiable.  

Responsibilities: 

The Dental Hygienist is an oral health care professional. Dental Hygienists perform preventative oral health care, including assessment (medical history review, intra and extra oral exam, soft and hard tissue charting, exposure of radiographs) and instrumentation such as scaling (hand and/or ultrasonic), polishing (air and/or rotary instrument), application of fluoride and sealants. Other responsibilities include upholding IPAC, sterilization and disinfection, the creation and maintenance of accurate dental records for patients, general operatory upkeep and other related administrative duties. 

Qualifications: 

• Diploma or Degree in Dental Hygiene 

• Annual Registration to practice with CDHO 

• Annual proof of Professional Liability Insurance (CDHA or equivalent) 

• Annual BLS certification 

• Ability to independently assess the nature and extent of dental, periodontal, and associated conditions and pathology 

• Knowledge of patient screening, charting, and medical history procedures and documentation 

• Basic mathematical skills required 

• Basic knowledge of medical terminology required 

• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing as well as technical information to patients and non-technical staff 

• Ability to perform a full range of established dental hygienist protocol and procedures 

• Knowledge and understanding of dental procedures, terminology, and techniques 

• Ability to set up and prepare dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established regulations and guidelines, ethics and best practices 

• Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times 

• Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently 

• Technical literacy 

• Ability to use standard office equipment 

• Understanding of filing systems 

• Attention to detail in all areas of work 

• Excellent internal and external customer service skills 

• Meticulous records maintenance skills 

• Professional presentation as outlined by the requirements of the professional college as well as legislated requirements.
