The Role: 

We are looking for a Head of Supply Chain to join our Vancouver team! Reporting to the CEO, the Head of Supply Chain will forecast, plan, and prioritize work for the entire department, based on volume. This role will work closely with the members of their team and provide them with assistance, support, and guidance. The logistics director will also work closely with the other directors to ensure smooth operations.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic logistics planning including setting supply chain KPIs for productivity, speed, and order accuracy (among other metrics), analyzing data collected over time, and implementing process improvements wherever possible.
  • Ensure that inventory levels are satisfactory, and that SKUs are organized and easily accessible. 
  • Monitor standard warehousing and fulfillment procedures such as receiving, picking, and packing, for speed, efficiency, and quality of throughput.
  • Utilize our warehouse management system to automate and simplify these functions.
  • Act as liaison between JD Sports and the companies that make, ship, and deliver our products. This aspect of the role is critical, as well-maintained business relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, and carriers create strong, mutually beneficial partnerships that often result in cost-savings.
  • Develop operational budgets for all sorts of logistics costs — including facilities, labor, supplies, and freight — in addition to annual budgets.
  • Guide the company in its efforts to reduce transport-related greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Supervise, coordinate, coach, and advise team members on departmental priorities and decisions to make.
  • Help develop and optimize the team members' logistics operations management skills through ongoing training.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in a retail logistics director-level role
  • Have excellent communication skills and be a great team player.
  • Have extensive knowledge of logistics.
  • Be rigorous and meticulous.
  • Be excited about the idea of growing in an open environment where staff members are encouraged to shine through their uniqueness.
  • Continuously look for innovative areas for improvement.
  • Be proficient with the Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Demonstrate a knack for technological tools.
  • Fluently speak and write in English and ideally French to communicate effectively with carriers, freight forwarders, suppliers, and all employees across the country.
