Purchasing - Senior Estimator

Empire Communities has an exciting opportunity as a Senior Estimator with the High-Rise Procurement Team! In this role, you will assist with the development and implementation of standards, procedures, and methodologies to optimize the construction cost planning and budget management practices. This is inclusive of providing cost consulting, quantity take offs and full Project Construction Budgeting Support.

This role is located at our Empire Canada Homes Head Office in Vaughan, ON.

What We Are Looking For:

• Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Construction Management or relevant field of study.
• Working towards PQS designation or member of CIQS/RICS
• 5+ years of experience in estimating, quantity surveying or contract administration within the High Rise residential construction industry.  
• Strong knowledge in elemental cost analysis.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Skilled in interpreting construction drawings and other technical documents used in residential construction. 
• Excellent knowledge of SharePoint, Excel, and On Centre.

What You’ll Be Doing Each Day

• Review and provide guidance on measurement of project statistics / functional areas.
• Practical understanding of high-rise construction methodology.
• Ability to prepare and complete trade / elemental take-offs based on preliminary design documents.
• Ability to prepare and complete trade and elemental take-offs based on tender/construction documents.
• Advanced understanding of factors influencing construction costs and applying that knowledge to pricing estimates.
• Completion of estimates and reports ready for sign-off.
• Preparation and analysis of general condition breakdown.
• Work with Management to support the implementation of strategies.
• Provide leadership, guidance, coaching, mentoring and support to all direct reports or team members
