351 King Street East, Suite 1300, Toronto, Ontario

DURATION:

1 Year Contract

 

The Project Accountant will perform a variety of accounting and analytical functions and will assist with the preparation of year-end and interim financial statements. This position works closely with other team members to provide timely and accurate management reporting and financial results. The ideal candidate for this role will have an accounting background with strong attention to detail and familiarity with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Maintain accounting records for entities in the low rise and midrise division
  • Assist with preparation of monthly management report
  • Prepare interim and year-end financial statements ith notes and supporting backup for the auditors and stakeholders
  • Analyze and review transactions that are booked by journal entries
  • Maintain and monitor realty tax bills and process realty tax deposit refunds
  • Assist with assessing the adequacy of the budgets used in the year-end process
  • Liaise with external tax consultants on corporate and partnership tax filings
  • Assist with other responsibilities as required

 

COMMUNICATION/INFLUENCING OTHERS

 

This position requires both written and verbal communication skills to communicate with both internal (other departments) and external (investment partners and external auditors) stakeholders. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • CPA designation or in final stages of completion
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or financial reporting capacity
  • Working knowledge of corporate and partnership taxation
  • Real estate industry experience is an asset
  • Experience in MS Navision an asset
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Strong financial, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Achievement oriented; must be able to juggle multiple tasks, tight deadlines and changing priorities

 

 

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

 

  • The role requires the successful candidate to be in office 4x a week.
  • Office environment – sitting/working at desk/computer in a shared office space and/or remote working from home
  • Working hours during the day Monday to Friday and occasional overtime time as required to meet deadlines
  • Work under pressure in a fast-paced environment is critical to success in this role

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Sitting at computer 90% of the time
  • Manual dexterity is needed to operate a keyboard and mouse
