We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the role of Operations Supervisor for our Non Ferrous Chopline Team, stationed at our 900 Intermodal Drive, Brampton, ON location.

What’s expected:

Night shift:

Week 1 Monday , Tuesday , Wednesday and Thursday 7pm to 7am

Week 2 Monday , Tuesday and Wednesday 7pm to 7am

Overview of Responsibilities:

Supervision:

  • Schedule, train, evaluate, direct and motivate all staff members to ensure daily/weekly operational objectives are completed in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Prepares staff schedules, approves/denies vacation requests based on operational requirements
  • Facilitate training with new hire/transfer team members
  • Evaluates team members on and ongoing basis and provides feedback for continuous improvement
  • Directs daily duties and objectives
  • Motivates staff to ensure positive moral and employee relations
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, service and cost
  • Provide hands-on leadership and direction to production employees by coaching and managing in a positive and constructive manner

Operations:

  • Ensure shipped material meets internal/external speciation in accordance with customer specifications, and operational and/or quality policies and procedures
  • Ensure team members are aware of internal/external material specifications
  • Inspecting loaded material prior to shipment
  • Monitor’s reports for accuracy and thorough completion in accordance with operational and quality policies and procedures.

Health and Safety:

  • Instruct and inform team members of the health and safety requirements to promote a safe workplace and ensure the team carries out responsibilities in compliance with the provisions of governing Occupational Health and Safety legislation and its regulations and wears any required personal protective equipment and clothing
  • Recommend improvements to processes and procedures

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Supervise contractors ensuring work performed meets contractual obligations
  • Audits all staff reports, including but not limited to; Equipment Inspection Checklists, and Production Reports.
  • Records findings and compiles reports relating to equipment service, inventory and production

Requirements:

  • Completion of Post-Secondary education (College or University Level)
  • Minimum of three (3) years in a leadership role; within the manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience, ideally five (5) years;
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and execute operational objectives
  • Thorough understanding and experience in implementing lean manufacturing efficiencies
  • Computer literacy, with basic Microsoft Excel competency;
  • Refined written and verbal communication skills
  • Hands on experience working with manufacturing machinery and equipment

Bonus points:

  • Knowledge of Joint Health and Safety Committee and Environmental and Health and Safety practices
  • Experiencing working along shipping and logistics departments
  • Forklift operation experience
  • Fundamentals of the Non-Ferrous metal recycling industry
  • PLC experience
