Genoa Design International is currently recruiting Senior Naval Architect Designers to join our North Vancouver office!

Genoa Design International has been providing production design and 3D modeling services to shipbuilding and offshore industries around the world since 1995. In that time, we’ve become one of the most sought-after production design firms in the North American shipbuilding market.

With a team of designers, engineers, naval architects, administrators, and technical support staff dispersed between locations, Genoa provides expertise and dedicated support throughout the shipbuilding process. Currently, Genoa is active in major government initiatives such as Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS) and in commercial contracts in shipyards throughout North America.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As Senior Naval Designer responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop 3D models for marine vessels and floating structures and related systems and equipment for ship design including structure and marine distributive systems
  • Incorporate Engineering Changes into existing designs
  • Responsible for providing comprehensive marine discipline expertise by supporting the development and reviewing technical design
  • Provides design discipline expertise preparing and reviewing design and functional packages to ensure functional design requirements are met
  • Ensure a level of quality control for project work for yourself and others
  • Meet project deliverables, deadlines and budget as directed by managers and leads
  • Contribute to continuous improvement (support initiatives and generate new ideas)
  • Interact with customers and clients to determine needs and follow assigned projects through from client meeting to design and production
  • You may be called upon to lead and drive a discipline design team within an area of the marine vessel and help support the development of a small group of Designers

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED IN YOUR TOOLKIT

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering related discipline including naval architecture, marine engineer systems design or equivalent combination of education and technical training
  • 10+ years in depth experience in Detailed Design in Shipbuilding (or related Industry)
  • Strong knowledge of Class requirements and international ship design standards
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Ship Constructor, AutoCAD software, document control systems and database management
  • Strong leadership and/or supervisory skills
  • Experience working in a shipyard or production environment
  • Demonstrated effective communication across a variety of disciplines
  • Proven ability to work independently to develop solutions to technical problems
  • Advanced technical writing skills including the skill to produce and present clear detailed written technical specifications, procedures, and reports
