First Credit Union is looking for a financial service professional to join our team at our Powell River Branch as a full-time Member Service Associate. Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Member Service Associate is responsible for greeting and responding to member inquiries about products and services, and directing them to the appropriate department. This role involves providing the highest standard of service to meet members' needs and delivering exceptional member experiences. The incumbent will perform a variety of duties related to the promotion, sale, and administration of accounts, deposits, and loan products and services offered by First Credit Union. Additionally, this position provides support in daily tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the branch.

This is a full-time position requiring availability Monday-Friday. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Greet members, respond to their inquiries, identify their needs and direct them to the appropriate areas.
  • Continuously administer member appointments with the use of Coconut and Outlook calendar.
  • Balance ATMs and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
  • Process registered transfers, incoming balance of account transfers, wire transfers, and mortgage payouts.
  • Open, sort, and route incoming and outgoing mail, including handling registered mail, special deliveries, and time-sensitive items accordingly. Prepare mailbags for distribution.
  • Re-document business and organization accounts as a result of a change of signers. 
  • Promote and provide advice on deposit products and services, including registered and non-registered accounts with the ability to discuss investment options such as term deposits.
  • Promote and process card products, including credit and debit cards as well as all electronic services.
  • Assist Member Service team with interviewing members, documentation and processing of applications.
  • Proactively contact members utilizing our monthly reports, for example; term maturity, over cap, etc.
  • Ensure a high personal standard of service and performance by effectively completing duties assigned, and actively participating in education opportunities and training programs.
  • Support call center when needed by responding to member phone and email inquiries.
  • Contribute to member relationship-building by referring members to other departments when applicable.
  • Adheres to security procedures and policies including audit and privacy as they pertain to the position.
  • Engage in continuous education and self-development to improve understanding of products and services.

Required Experience, Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:

  • Secondary school diploma.
  • Successful completion of CUIC 240* Fundamentals of Personal Financial Planning course (within 6 months of start date).
  • Thorough knowledge of account, lending, and deposit products and services and related policies, procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Accountability for both personal and branch-assigned growth goals, targets and major initiatives.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the financial, retail, or hospitality industry.
