Position Title: Technology Manager, Cloud (Azure)
Reports To: Senior Technology Manager, Core Infrastructure
Department: IT Infrastructure
Term: Permanent Full-Time

 

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

 

 

The Opportunity: Equitable is growing! We are looking for a Technology Manager, Cloud to join our IT Infrastructure team!

The Technology Manager will manage and direct a cross-functional team that identifies, recommends, develops, implements, and supports IT solutions to support and enable strategic and tactical business goals and objectives. They will also manage and steward a set of technology assets within a technology platform, in collaboration with business and IT roles on solution design and development of systems, and applications that may depend on or are used by other platforms. Additionally, the role will create and drive technical strategy and roadmaps for a set of technology assets within a technology platform.

What you will be doing:

  • Responsible for designing and managing cloud-based platforms for the organization.
  • Work with different IT professionals and teams to ensure our cloud computing platforms meet the needs of our organization and clients.
  • Own Platform Assets
    • Sets technical vision and roadmap for assigned assets within a platform to support and enhance business outcomes
    • Own the technical roadmap and deliver milestones for assigned assets by working closely with business, development, operations teams and Technical Platform Owner.
    • Monitor, steward and advance the technical health and performance of assigned assets 
    • Works with architects to develops the technology capability roadmap of assigned assets 
    • Manage the lifecycle of vendor platforms and overall vendor relationships
  • Lead Solution Development Practices\Processes 
    • Enable and guide team to deliver high quality solutions in a sustainable and optimized manner
    • Identify, document, continuously improve, and implement end-to-end software development, quality, delivery, and support processes 
    • Accountable to ensure technical standards, guidelines, and principles are upheld by team
    • Own the technology KPIs and prioritization of assigned assets
  • Team Talent Management
    • Sets direction and vision for the team.
    • People management, including hiring, coaching, recognizing, mentoring and performance managing team members.
    • Monitor team productivity, quality, and morale.
    • Spearheads and guides team through process implementation/changes. 

 


What you will bring:

  • 5+ years hands on relevant business technology experience
  • Previous experience in team leadership/management role, or equivalent demonstrated leadership capabilities 
  • Post-secondary degree or combination of equivalent education/experience in the following or related discipline: computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering 
  • Contemporary cloud platform certifications.
  • Designing, securing, and maintaining IaaS/PaaS cloud platform technologies.
  • Automation, orchestration, and system configuration tools (e.g. PowerShell, Puppet, Chef, Terraform, etc.).
  • Containerization capabilities (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker.)
  • Source code management (e.g., Azure DevOps, Git.)
  • Cloud networking and database skills.
  • Focus on client experience
  • Growth mindset and passion for innovation
  • Interpersonal skills, including communication and negotiation skills
  • Agility, flexibility and critical reasoning  
  • Exceptional organizational skills, including the capability to break down complex enterprise needs spanning multiple assets into multi-phased, implementable solution plans   
  • Ability to analyze and review solutions for quality
