CDF Family Orthodontics is looking for a passionate Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our work family in Media, PA. Previous Orthodontic Assisting experience is strongly preferred.

About the role:

The Orthodontic Dental Assistant is a key member of our clinical team, responsible for providing all aspects of clinical patient care in a professional, efficient, and caring manner. The Orthodontic Dental Assistant is involved in a wide range of patient care activities, including assisting the doctor during appointments, sterilization procedures, setting up the operatories, and x-rays.

What you will be doing - key responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient.
  • Build positive relationships with patients, families, and coworkers to ensure the targeted outcome treatment remains on schedule.
  • Assist Orthodontist with consultations and all stages of orthodontic procedures.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene.
  • Provide patient instruction/education.
  • Provide reports to parents/guardians.
  • Enter detailed chart/record notations in the practice management system.
  • Placing and removing wires.
  • Fitting orthodontic appliances.
  • Clean/disinfect operatories and sterilize instruments and devices.
  • Set up trays and prepare brackets for bonding.
  • Unload and store new supplies.
  • Take x-rays, photos, and impressions- both traditional and digital.
  • Pouring and trimming study models.
  • Maintain patient confidence.
  • Maintain clean and safe working environment. 
  • Protect patient and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocol. 
  • Great teamwork with all team members is expected.
  • Ability to perform other duties as required for the efficient operation of the practice.

What you bring – qualifications:

  • Orthodontic Assisting experience (preferred).
  • Willingness to learn and be a team player are most valued.
  • Has RDA/CDA
  • Radiology/X-ray Certified
  • Able/Willing to work in both of our office locations. Our Wallingford office is approximately 2 miles from the Media location.
  • Good understanding of relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency with orthodontic management software systems is preferred but not required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written), with a proven ability to build strong relationships and rapport with patients, parents, doctors, fellow team members and the community.
  • Keen attention-to-detail and time management skills.
  • Dependability and a strong work ethic.
