Role Summary


This role as Shift Leader reports to the Assistant Manager. The Shift Leader is responsible and accountable for the Front of House operations including training, supervision, and opening/closing of the restaurant.


Key Accountabilities



  1. Ensure that excellent levels of service are being delivered to the guests during service.

  2. Ensure that all equipment used is in safe working order, checked regularly and any faults are reported to management, while ensuring equipment is not used until safe.

  3. Action guest concerns and compliments by praising staff and resolve complaints in a timely manner.

  4. Comply with all Dominion’s policies and procedures and rules and regulations.

  5. Shift management in support of management team.

  6. Running food and performing table-side service during busy periods to support your serving team.

  7. Assist the General Manager or Assistant Manager with all aspects of restaurant operations.

  8. Ensures adherence to food safety regulations, hygiene and cleanliness as per Provincial and local standards.

  9. Following the Provincial Liquor laws.

  10. Ensures FOH labor cost is on the line to the budget.

  11. Ensures that fire plan knowledge and WHMIS training is kept up to date.

  12. Complies with WCB rules and regulations and maintains awareness of any/all other relevant laws and statues.

  13. Performs other duties as assigned and directed by General Manager & Assistant Manager.


Education & Experience



  • High school diploma, Serving it Right and minimum 2 years supervisory experience in Restaurant and Bar operations.


Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



  • Superior communication skills including the ability to retain, coach, mentor and develop staff

  • Ability to work with others in a fast paced customer service oriented environment

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi - task and coordinate multiple functions and activities. Ability to effectively use business software including Microsoft office suite, Google apps, Restaurant sales pro or familiar with FOH operation software systems

  • Possesses knowledge and understanding of employment standards specifically in areas of scheduling and ambassador discipline

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds

  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as business dictates
