Salary range: $76,000 to $95,000 per year

Primary Focus

The Business Systems Analyst will plan, design, develop, and launch efficient business and operations systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes to achieve our strategic and operational goals. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements.

 

 What do the daily responsibilities look like?

On any given day, the Business Systems Analyst will:

 

  • develop and document business requirements to support new functionality, enhancements, and services for all IT systems, including documentation of use cases, workflows, and results of business analyses, translating the information into functional specifications
  • facilitate between business units and IT in the extraction of accurate, comprehensive requirements to ensure that system development phases (design, development, testing) can be executed optimally
  • provide analytic support to evaluate progress and post-implementation impact on all projects
  • generate and compile reports based on their findings that include probable causes of and possible solutions to system issues
  • develop business processes and procedural documentation, and run training sessions for newly implemented or upgraded IT systems
  • assist in centralization and documentation of all IT systems and services
  • assist in the preparation of user acceptance and system test plans and execution.

Is this the right role for you?

 

The Business Systems Analyst will likely have:

  • completed postsecondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related area of study coupled with recent experience in a Business Systems Analyst role, which is normally attained over a period of no less than 3 years. An equivalent combination of education and experience that is satisfactory to Canada’s Drug Agency may be considered.

 

Specific requirements also include:

  • experience analyzing and documenting complex business processes and writing requirements specifications for information systems
  • experience with Microsoft 365 and document management systems
  • experience providing training and documentation for IT systems and tools
  • proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • experience with Software Development Life Cycle
  • understanding of functional and regression test planning, in addition to writing and executing test cases and requirements specifications
  • experience with IT Project Management software, such as Jira or Azure DevOps
  • analytical, project management, and organizational skills that include using analysis to translate business requirements into system solutions
  • ability to interact and work effectively with staff, including end users and stakeholders, to gather and clarify business requirements and translate them into system specifications
  • ability to adapt to new technology, effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and prioritize and manage conflicting demands
  • ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment, demonstrating a high degree of flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment.

The following are considered asset qualifications:

  • experience with web and online interface design
  • experience utilizing Agile methodology and Scrum
  • knowledge of PIPEDA and CASL legislation
  • ability to communicate in French.
