Job Title: Instructional Designer & Trainer 

Department: People and Culture 

Reporting to: Director of People and Culture, Corporate 

Location: Mississauga 

 

Greenfield is looking for an Instructional Designer and Trainer to join our growing team.  

  

Position Overview:  

  

Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, the Instructional Designer/Trainer is responsible for the development, upkeep, and delivery of end-user training and support material.

Who You Are:   

  • Aptitude for learning computer applications and enthusiasm for learning and for teaching others 
  • Willing to travel 
  • Strong knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, style and grammar 
  • Able to deliver classroom and virtual learning, motivating learners through effective training methodologies both in group and individual classroom dynamics 
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills. Comfortable training in front of large audiences 
  • Strong facilitation and meeting skills 
  • Strong BA skills 

 

 

Your Experience Should Include: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature, Journalism, Business, Instructional System Design, Education or other similar disciplines, (or 5+ years instructional design and delivery experience 
  • 3+ years of instructional systems design or adult education and training development experience 
  • 3+ years of experience delivering training to business users, specifically ERP system solutions 
  • Experience within a dedicated training/learning and development environment; able to apply modern adult learning principles and theories to the design of course content, instructor materials and student materials 
  • Experience within a dedicated training/learning and development environment; able to apply modern adult learning principles and theories to the design of course content, instructor materials and student materials 
  • Experience developing learning documents and materials (e.g. storyboards, presentation materials, participant guides, job-aids) 
  • Experience with eLearning authoring tools such as Captivate or Articulate 
  • Proven ability to consult with stakeholders to identify training development and delivery requirements 
  • Able to organize information into hierarchies, flows, taxonomies or other structures to clearly convey information to learners 
  • Plan, prioritize, organize, and coordinate course development 
  • Advanced application software skills including Windows, PowerPoint, Word & Excel

  • Bilingual: English and French

 

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Development of instructor-led courses and ongoing support materials 
  • Development of eLearning or other self-paced course content 
  • Ensure internal reviews of learning content and course materials 
  • Ownership of the training data over the Build and Test phases of a project or engagement. 
  • Liaises with client technical resources to ensure courses address training environment technical infrastructure requirements and limitations (including LMS eLearning integration) 
  • Ensure that the development of all training documentation is aligned with the associated strategies and plans 
  • Adheres to defined standards for all course materials 
  • Follows quality assurance development process, thereby ensuring consistency in approach and content 
  • Gather, review, and validate learning requirements 
  • Identify learning objectives and user requirements 
  • Acquire source materials, organize content into meaningful learning chunks and create design documents (e.g. course outlines) within the content development process 
  • Create assigned end-user training documentation and ongoing support material, according to defined standards 
  • Work closely with designated project resources and their SMEs 
  • Design instruction that reflects an understanding of the diversity of learners and groups of learners. 
  • Develop, input and test appropriate training data in the training systems (where required) 
  • Manage technical links and interfaces between the content and learning system (i.e. LMS, intranet, internet) 
  • Follows the course change process 
  • Ensure training development timelines and deliverables are met 
  • Supports train-the-trainer workshops 
  • Coordinate and facilitate training for client training developers if required 
  • Proactively identify and address risk areas associated with the end-user training program 
  • Willing to travel
