Job Title:          Food Safety and Quality Systems Coordinator

Reporting to:   Quality Assurance Manager 
Location:         Brampton, Ontario

Greenfield is looking for a Food Safety and Quality Systems Coordinator to join our growing team. 

Based at the Brampton Packaging Facility, this position is responsible for the creation, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Food Safety and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) System throughout the Greenfield Global Brampton Packaging Facility, in accordance with the FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System (FSMS). This position will evaluate our current systems and establish the necessary processes to comply with the Standard and harmonize with our existing ISO Quality, Environmental, and Health and Safety Management Systems. The position will establish and lead the Food Safety Team, in consultation with site management.

Your Experience Should Include:

  • Food Science or equivalent degree. Appropriate education, training, or practical experience in Food Safety management to carry out the responsibilities described in the job description.
  • Experience in Food Safety Management in a GFSI-recognized scheme, ideally FSSC 22000 FSMS.
  • Proven 2+ years of experience in food safety and quality assurance in a manufacturing environment.
  • PCQI certificate would be an assets
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment is an asset
  • Experience with dangerous goods is an asset
  • Collaborative, ability to motivate and work cross-functionally with various departments.
  • Agile, able to pivot priorities, multitask, and complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to make informed decisions in a timely manner. 
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License
  • Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer focused environment

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, monitor, and maintain the FSMS in accordance with the FSSC 22000 FSMS Standard and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan for the site. Monitor HACCP plan to ensure ongoing compliance with the Standard and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement food safety processes.
  • Monitors compliance to process controls through regular inspections of facility, production, and quality activities (on floor presence). Identifies corrective actions and monitors resolution.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain documentation and records for the FSMS; including procedures, forms, references, etc. used to monitor and verify FSMS activities.
  • Train employees on food safety procedures and best practices. Conduct new employee orientation and employee coaching on FSMS requirements.
  • Communicates with site and top management regarding FSMS status.
  • Drives continuous improvement of the FSMS through identification of opportunities for improvement, analysis of trends, and incorporation industry best practices.
  • Hosts Registrar FSMS audits and participates in customer audits. 
  • Organizes and maintains FSMS internal audit program.
  • Collaborates with quality and regulatory teams to ensure suppliers meet FSMS requirements.
  • Coordinates, manages, and provides support on various Food Safety projects and initiatives as well as day to day tasks required by the Quality Assurance Department.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally in building a Food Safety mindset and culture across the site. 
  • Other responsibilities as required.
